Production Technology

This set of illustrations is drawn by the Procreate software. It is made with a high level of printing and manufacturing techniques to show beautifully illustrated details with rich colors.

Design Challenge

Transforming abstract ideas into concrete images is a complex and long process. Finally, the Analects of Confucius, which records the life and deeds of Confucius, was selected as an important reference, and images were combined according to relevant contents.

Project Duration

The project Started in February 2023 in Guiyang, China, and was completed in June 2023 in Shenyang, China.

Operation Flow

First of all, we refined the aesthetic value of Confucius, and chose the content of Confucius's aesthetic thought, such as national prosperity, national harmony, everyone is equal, and love for the country. Then, the metaphorical design method is used to describe the connotation of Confucius' aesthetic view, and finally, the auspicious elements are combined to form the outer frame part of the illustration. The illustrations throughout the series show an artistic image of change and unity.

Research

This design is designed to promote Confucius' aesthetic values. Metaphical design techniques are used to visualize Confucius's aesthetic ideas. At the same time, the artistic combination of auspicious cultural images such as bronze ware, jade pendant, phoenix, auspicious cloud and elk is realized. The whole illustration series has outstanding cultural connotation, strong visual influence, and has the value of historical and cultural inheritance and artistic promotion.

Inspiration

The aesthetic value of Confucius and Confucianism is a unique aesthetic paradigm in traditional Chinese culture. Its benevolence, perfection, and neutrality are the core source of its aesthetic principles. Nowadays, while economic growth, people are more inclined to explore spiritual nutrition from traditional culture. The illustration design of Confucius' aesthetic values can promote its artistic dissemination.

Project Overview

Confucius Aesthetics Illustration has been a Iron winner in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design award category in the year 2024 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Iron A' Design Award is awarded to good designs that meet the rigorous professional and industrial standards set by the A' Design Awards. This recognition is reserved for works that demonstrate a solid understanding of design principles and show creativity within their execution. Recipients of the Iron A' Design Award are acknowledged for their practical innovations and contributions to their respective fields, providing solutions that improve quality of life and foster positive change. These designs are a testament to the skill and dedication of their creators, showcasing their ability to address real-world challenges through thoughtful design.
