Sales Center for Matrix Design
This project redefines the sales center by interpreting Eastern cultural aesthetics in a modern context. Drawing inspiration from the Forbidden City's purlins and Daming Lake's tranquility, the space uses natural textures, low-saturation tones, and traditional crafts to deliver a sensory-rich experience. Integrated antiques and heritage materials add narrative depth. The result is a refined, human-centered club that blurs the boundary between tradition and innovation.

This design creates a luxurious oriental-style club that blends classical cultural elements with modern sensibilities. By integrating natural materials, low-saturation tones, and large-scale layouts with handcrafted screens, antiques, and non-heritage crafts, the space offers both high-end sophistication and emotional resonance. Its blend of spatial fluidity, privacy, and aesthetic refinement distinguishes it from conventional commercial real estate.

The project employs a combination of handcrafted elements and modern construction techniques. Materials include antique bronze finishes, landscape-textured stone, natural wood, Suzhou embroidery, lacquerware, and repatriated antiques. Construction involves high-precision custom fabrication, sustainable material sourcing, and integration of cultural craftsmanship into interior finishes.
The key challenge was to de-commercialize a sales space and transform it into a lifestyle destination that evokes memory and belonging. Constraints included tight schedules, balancing privacy with openness, and sourcing historically resonant materials. The team overcame these by using spatial storytelling, modular programming, and cultural research to create depth and uniqueness.
The project started in November 2023 in Jinan, China and finished in September 2024
Visitors are immersed in curated lifestyle scenes that feel both private and expansive. As they move through the club, sensory elements like flowing water features, interactive LED art walls, and layered textures create moments of pause and engagement. Each space is designed to evoke emotional warmth while remaining intuitive and fluid in spatial navigation.
This project involved cultural research on Eastern architectural and aesthetic traditions. The objective was to create a space that balances classical serenity with contemporary needs. Research methods included spatial analysis, cultural artifact study, and on-site material testing. The insights led to the integration of intangible heritage and modern functions, enhancing both spatial identity and market differentiation.
Inspired by the refined wooden purlins of the Beijing Forbidden City and the stillness of Jinan Daming Lake, the project reinterprets Eastern architecture and landscape into contemporary language. The design explores themes of minimalism, natural beauty, and cultural continuity, aiming to convey a modern interpretation of oriental hidden luxury through spatial storytelling.
