CIS Design for DaDao International Brand Research & Design Institute
The identity centers on freshness and quality through a sophisticated cultural translation. Inspired by the artisan spirit of Tokyo Tsukiji Market, the visual core merges bull horns and a fish tail with the numeral 94 to symbolize culinary craftsmanship. A palette of red and black, rooted in Japanese lacquerware, provides a disciplined aesthetic. This system successfully bridges traditional heritage with contemporary trendiness through a precise graphic language.

The brand's core principles are "Freshness, Quality, Trendiness". CI Design focuses on the integrated application of cultural translation, incorporating the cultural atmosphere and artisan spirit of Tokyo's Tsukiji Market. The visual core combines bull horns and a fish tail with the numeral "94", symbolizing the brand's dedication to professional product selection and culinary craftsmanship, while the primary color scheme uses red and black inspired by Japanese lacquerware.

The logo combines bull horns, a fish tail, and the number 94, symbolizing expertise in curating products from both land and sea. Inspired by traditional Japanese lacquerware, the red and black color scheme highlights meat in the supermarket and fire in the yakiniku area, creating both cultural depth and visual impact. Supporting colors such as gold, blue, and light gray add diversity and reflect the lively spirit of Tsukiji Market. The building facade takes cues from Japanese fabric door curtains, continuing the red and black palette.
Positioned as a community supermarket, the space encourages inclusivity through coffee gatherings, curated product displays, and yakiniku dining, fostering connections among diverse users. Digital menus reduce paper waste, and multilingual visuals improve access to information. The overall design merges modular visual identity with spatial planning to reflect the brand belief that good design supports sustainability. This system builds emotional ties with customers, promoting thoughtful choices in buying and eating, while supporting local brands and responsible food culture.
The project finished in 2025 in Taiwan.
The modular identity system prioritizes clarity and a defined information hierarchy, ensuring effective communication. It integrates online and offline channels according to brand needs, enabling the team to operate efficiently using standardized guidelines. The rebrand to 94HiLook uses "94", which phonetically resembles meaning "just is" in Chinese, to directly convey the brand message. Geometric subsidiary patterns streamline promotional material production, using orderly aesthetics to balance vibrant product colors, enhancing marketing flexibility and efficiency.
The brand is renamed as 94HiLook. In Chinese semantics, this name intuitively evokes fresh meat products and is also chosen considering the aesthetic balance of the font strokes. The design incorporates the owner's aspiration for the cultural experience of Tsukiji Market and translates the brand's meticulous, refined traits, corresponding to the artisan spirit, into visual vocabulary. This allows customers to personally participate in the journey of ingredients, from selection and preparation to enjoyment, and review their food choices through the experience.
The founder of 94HiLook leveraged their professional chef background and years of experience in live streamed product selection to create a hybrid store combining Japanese yakiniku, a supermarket, and a coffee bar. The initial purpose of the brand refresh was to enhance the quality of the pickup store and transform it into a hybrid supermarket, restaurant operation. This was ultimately refined into an upscale curated supermarket combined with individual yakiniku and a coffee bar.
