Hotel for Wjd Design
The project presents an immersive interior environment inspired by Wuhan's landscape imagery of mountains, flowing water, and lotus forms. Curved surfaces, fluid floor patterns, and organic textures establish a continuous natural atmosphere. Using building information modeling simulations and custom fabricated components, the design achieves a seamless balance between artistic expression and structural precision. Sustainable materials and soft environmental lighting further shape a tranquil, contemporary retreat that evokes the cultural character of the region.

This project redefines the parent-child urban resort model by translating Wuhan's natural and cultural symbols mountains, water, and lotus into an immersive spatial narrative. Unlike designs that merely imitate nature, it uses abstraction, deconstruction, and material innovation to create an experiential environment. Advanced BIM simulations, custom glass fiber reinforced gypsum structures, and sustainable materials ensure both artistic expression and engineering precision.

The project adopts building information modeling and parametric modeling to resolve complex double curved geometries, especially the lobby's iconic mountain like ceiling. Custom fabricated glass fiber reinforced gypsum panels ensure structural accuracy and seamless integration. Materials include glass fiber reinforced gypsum, polyethylene terephthalate glycol-modified panels, artistic coatings, natural wood and bamboo weaving. Intelligent lighting simulates natural light filtering through lotus leaves, enhancing spatial atmosphere.
The main challenge was integrating organic natural forms into a large scale commercial structure while meeting fire safety codes, load bearing requirements and ergonomic standards. The double curved lobby ceiling required advanced modeling and custom glass fiber reinforced gypsum fabrication. Balancing artistic expression, cost control, sustainability and regional culture demanded continuous coordination, technical innovation and interdisciplinary problem-solving.
The project started in January 2023 and finished in May 2025 in China.
Guests engage with the space through a natural, narrative driven flow. The lobby introduces the "mountain" theme, guiding visitors into water inspired pathways and lotus themed rooms. Light, texture and spatial transitions immerse both adults and children in a calm yet exploratory environment. The design supports intuitive movement, rest, play and family interaction, creating a seamless resort experience.
This applied design research aims to translate Wuhan's cultural ecology into spatial experience. Methods include site studies, cultural analysis, user behavior research and building information modeling simulations. Data was collected through environmental mapping and parent child experience interviews. Results show that abstracted natural imagery enhances emotional connection and guest satisfaction. The research strengthens cultural tourism branding and offers replicable strategies for nature based resort design.
The design is inspired by Wuhan's identity as the "River City" and the cultural legend "High Mountains and Flowing Water," symbolizing profound human connection. By extracting mountains, water and lotus as core motifs, the project aims to create a nature immersed sanctuary for families. The concept also stems from the Senbo brand spirit "Exploring Nature with Love" and research into local ecology, regional culture, and contemporary aesthetics.
