Production Technology

The chair is available in PU leather and tech fabric. The PU leather comes in black, brown, white, and gray, with a smooth, glossy surface that shows a professional business style. The tech fabric, available in black and white, features a matte, soft, and textured finish, creating a gentle, skinfriendly appearance and a comfortable and warm atmosphere suited to home and creative offices. Metal components are paint coated for rust resistance and a smooth, glossy finish, elevating visual quality.

Design Challenge

The challenge lies in balancing business style with comfortable experience. Its broad, substantial form projects authority, while the large cushion and dual layer backrest show solidness. The backrest combines a soft inner layer for comfort with a firm outer layer for support, adapting to different body types. The cushion with independent pocket springs absorbs pressure, providing an even and springy seating experience. A multilayer cushion design further enhances durability and comfort.

Project Duration

The project commenced in Zhejiang, China in February 2024 and reached completion in July 2024.

Operation Flow

Core functions such as seat height adjustment and rocking mode are integrated into a single, easily accessible control module, allowing users to make adjustments without searching for buttons. The backrest can be adjusted between 90 and 135 degrees as needed, allowing seamless transitions between work and relaxation. The adjustable smooth rocking mode offers gentle rocking motion for a few minutes, giving the body and mind a quick recharge to enhance work efficiency.

Research

The diversified work patterns have raised users’ expectations for office chairs in terms of comfort, functionality, ergonomic support, and business style. However, many expensive executive chairs prioritize luxurious appearance over functional design, failing to provide comfort for long hours of work. Conventional office chairs often lack the business style for premium office settings. So there is an urgent need for highend executive chairs combining comfort, functionality, and business style.

Inspiration

The design is inspired by highend car seats, which not only emphasize stylish and sophisticated appearances but also prioritize ergonomic support and functional performance. Guided by this concept, the executive chair offers users a premium seating experience reminiscent of a luxury car driver’s seat, combining the business style and stability expected of an executive chair with immersive comfort, relaxation, and flexibility.

Project Overview

Ql 66B1 Office Chair has been a Iron winner in the Office Furniture Design award category in the year 2025 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
