Inspired by the Eastern philosophical concept of "metamorphosis into a butterfly," this design integrates natural imagery into bedding design. It breaks from traditional quilting techniques by introducing a removable inner cover and pearl-studded craftsmanship, solving the practical challenge of cleaning high-end silk quilts. This extends the product's lifespan and adaptability while echoing the theme of "breaking free from the cocoon."
Embroidered Butterflies, Removable Design, Soft Eastern Aesthetics, Silken Touch, 100% Double-Cocoon Silk
Crafted with 100% double-cocoon mulberry silk as the core and a natural silk shell, the quilt offers a lightweight, warm, and skin-friendly touch. Its cover features an exquisite embroidered butterflies with meticulously detailed wing veins, where colorful pearls and intricate stitching create a three-dimensional effect. The interplay of lustrous silk threads and glistening pearls—woven via a delicate balance of void and solid—reveals richly layered textures, exuding a charm of lively elegance.
The core challenge lay in harmonizing subtle cultural expression with clear functional advancement, preserving the silk quilt's inherent softness and Eastern aesthetic essence while achieving a practical structural breakthrough. Moving beyond conventional fixed designs, the team introduced a removable inner shell to replace traditional quilting, directly addressing the difficulty of cleaning and maintaining high-end silk quilts.
The project finished in August 2025 in Nantong.
The removable inner shell simplifies cleaning and maintenance, enhancing the intuitive usability of the silk quilt. The lightweight, soft fabric conforms naturally to the body, delivering a skin-friendly embrace that feels soothing and relaxing. The quilt surface showcases exquisitely embroidered butterflies, where pearls and delicate stitching techniques create a delightful fusion of visual and tactile indulgence.
Traditional silk quilts often suffer from cleaning difficulties due to fixed structures, with cultural expressions remaining superficial. Rooted in the philosophy of "metamorphosis," the piece achieves functional breakthroughs through a detachable cover and elevates aesthetics via three-dimensional craftsmanship. This approach preserves the benefits of natural materials while meeting contemporary lifestyle needs, paving a new path for modernizing traditional craftsmanship.
Design Inspiration stems from the philosophy of "metamorphosis," symbolizing life's transformation and cyclical renewal. The detachable structure mirrors the conscious act of emerging from a cocoon, while three-dimensional butterfly motifs capture the dynamic beauty of new wings in flight. This creation explores the delicate balance between "inside & outside," "constraint & liberation," and "heritage & innovation", interpreting modern bedding with Eastern imagery through poetic expression.
