Unique Properties
This packaging can be disassembled into three puzzle like scenarios: tent camping, RV travel, and home backup power, aligning with the brand's positioning directly linking the product to its applications. Tool free snap fit assembly suits mass production and easy to get start. The assembled product can serve as a desktop ornament, extending the packaging lifecycle, integrating protection, interaction, and reuse, thereby enhancing brand value and user engagement.

Production Technology
1. Material Selection: Constructed from 100% recycled corrugated cardboard with a water based eco friendly coating, tested and verified for sufficient strength and durability. 2. Production Process: Employing a single-sheet die-cutting process, each piece is formed in one cut. This facilitates easy handling during assembly and features multiple cut lines and tabs, allowing users to effortlessly obtain puzzle pieces and assemble them.
Design Challenge
The greatest challenge in this design lies in achieving a triple balance: protecting, ensuring puzzle interactivity, and maintaining mass production feasibility. We balanced eco-conscious design with brand storytelling that ensuring stable corrugated paper structures while simplifying assembly and integrating core product scenarios. Additionally, constrained by mass production dieline cutting precision, complex puzzle structures required precise alignment with existing production lines. Through computer simulations, we progressively optimized the structure and adjusted snap dimensions for dieline cutting, ultimately achieving all three objectives.
Project Duration
The project started in July 2024 in ShenZhen and finished in December 2024 in ShenZhen
Operation Flow
The core interaction of this packaging transforms users from passive unboxing to active creation, achieved through a three-step conversion process: 1. Unboxing: Upon receiving the product, open the packaging and remove the puzzle components from the top lid. 2. Assembly Interaction: Snap the components together by aligning their tabs to form a randomly generated scene display piece a fun, interactive experience that mirrors the product's usage scenario. 3. Reuse: The assembled piece can be used as a long term desktop display, extending the packaging's lifespan.
Research
This applied mixed design research addresses the solar panel packaging dilemma of balancing protection, eco-friendliness and user experience. We created a one-piece recyclable corrugated packaging with puzzle-style reuse, tested via user research, structural simulation and prototyping. The design works well in protection, is easy to assemble, cuts mass production costs, boosts brand differentiation, reduces waste and offers new ideas for new energy product packaging.
Inspiration
This project was inspired by focus on sustainability, user experience, and differentiation. We believe that packaging must not only provide robust protection but also serve as an extension of our brand philosophy. To achieve this, we adopted a single sheet structural design to practice environmental stewardship. Through puzzle-like reuse, the packaging enables multiple uses, reducing waste at its source. This transforms the unboxing experience into a scenario based interactive experience.
Project Overview
Ecopuzzle Guard Repurpose Packaging has been a Bronze winner in the Packaging Design award category in the year 2025 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. It recognizes the dedication and skill of designers who produce work that stands out for its thoughtful development and innovative use of materials and technology.
