Interior Design for Private client
Located in a landmark high rise in Istanbul, this 346 square meter apartment redefines urban living through reflection and material precision. A mirrored ceiling conceived as a fifth facade captures the skyline by day and city lights by night, integrating the exterior into the interior. Brushed stainless steel panels and full height glazing intensify light and depth, while sculptural furnishings are embedded within the architecture. The result is a residence that transforms elevation, light and movement into a continuous spatial experience.

Unique Properties
The project is defined by the structural use of a mirrored ceiling system integrated within a high rise residential framework. Custom stainless steel wall cladding and full height glazing are coordinated to control glare, light diffusion and spatial continuity. The design differentiates itself by converting vertical exposure into a calibrated architectural strategy rather than a visual effect, establishing a distinct approach to high rise interior planning.

Production Technology
Brushed stainless steel wall cladding was selected for durability, surface continuity and controlled light behavior. The lambri pattern provides structured articulation and reinforces vertical alignment. Full height glazing maximizes daylight penetration and visual depth. Mirrored ceiling panels extend spatial perception through calibrated reflection. Material selection focuses on precision, alignment and surface performance rather than decorative contrast, resulting in a cohesive high rise interior system.
Design Challenge
The primary challenge was amplifying elevation without overwhelming the interior. In a fully glazed high rise, light intensity and city reflections are constant and unpredictable. The design had to respect building regulations, structural limits and fabrication tolerances while achieving seamless mirrored integration. Socially, the project responds to contemporary urban lifestyles that demand both impact and comfort. The difficulty lay in balancing spectacle with livability through precise material control.

The project started in 2024 and was delivered beginning of 2025
Operation Flow
The spatial flow is organized around a central living volume that anchors circulation and social interaction. Open planning allows uninterrupted movement between lounge, dining and kitchen areas, while private rooms remain acoustically buffered. Vertical perception is emphasized through proportion and ceiling continuity, guiding the eye upward and outward. The layout supports both intimate daily routines and larger gatherings with equal clarity.
Research
This project is grounded in spatial research focused on how elevation and panoramic glazing influence perception and comfort. The objective was to understand how reflection could enhance vertical living without creating visual fatigue. Through iterative modeling, daylight analysis and material testing, the team studied light behavior at different hours. The result demonstrates how controlled reflection can elevate urban housing value and redefine high rise residential experience.
Inspiration
The inspiration was shaped by the client’s international lifestyle and his relationship with dynamic global cities. As a frequent traveler drawn to fast paced urban environments and contemporary art, he sought a residence that would reflect movement, ambition and personal expression. Located high above Istanbul, the apartment offered a unique vantage point. The design responds to this condition by translating elevation and urban energy into a living space that feels engaged with the city while remaining deeply personal.
