The recipient's journey starts with branded packaging. Inside, a Chinese scroll (the greeting card) sets the cultural tone. Unfolding next, the tote reveals a twilly on its handle, wearable multiple ways. The coordinating pouch encourages daily use, while the red packets' splicing design forms a bird and flower tableau when displayed together. The key innovation, these practical gifts transform into decorative art, the tote, pouch, twilly, and envelopes can be arranged as a museum like display, with the scroll kept or unfurled as wall art.
Using visual cultural analysis, archival research, audits, and 20 interviews in Singapore and Hong Kong, the study identified auspicious symbols beyond zodiac signs and client gifting preferences. Peacock (boundless promise) and crane (longevity) motifs resonated. Clients favored usable, transformative items (tote, pouch), personalizable accessories (twilly), and displayable art (scroll, spliced packets). Enduring gifts increase perceived thoughtfulness and prolong seasonal exposure.
Inspired by Chinese mythology and ink wash art, this collection blends cultural symbolism with Swiss precision. The peacock embodies "boundless promise" for youth; the red-crowned crane symbolizes longevity for elders. A twilly wrapped handle nods to luxury scarf traditions, while the scroll format updates ancient scholarly gifting. Merging these elements with precision craftsmanship, the designs honour heritage while appealing to global clients who appreciate understated elegance.
