Production Technology

Powered by the Joyinside AI Intelligent Engine, it serves as an intelligent children’s toy integratingstory companionship, interactive learning and emotional competency enlightenment, made fromrecycled plush toy materials.

Design Challenge

For AI companion plush toys, balancing soft touch and electronic hardware integration is key. Electronic modules (microphones, speakers, main control movements) take up internal space; improper structure can make the interior hard, affecting hugging comfort, while overly thick filling may block modules and hinder voice interaction. A soft silicone interlayer is added to the movement structure as a buffer, reducing hardware-induced hard touch and enhancing hugging experience. Acoustic openings in the silicone layer ensure normal audio reception and emission of microphones and speakers. Additionally, a long-pile plush outer layer, similar to a professional microphone dead cat, disperses air flow, reduces noise and interference, stabilizes voice reception, and improves interaction experience.

Operation Flow

Pair via APP Bluetooth, enter the WiFi/personal hotspot to connect to the Internet. After connection, wake it up by voice saying Hello JOJO, then you can have a dialogue.

Research

Studies have shown that comfort objects can effectively help children transition from dependence on their mothers to independence, alleviate separation anxiety and provide psychological security. More than 60% of children form emotional attachments to transitional objects such as plush toys, which can ease separation anxiety and offer emotional security. With the development of AI, emotionally interactive companion robots can be new emotional partners for children. Via natural language interaction, emotional feedback and long-term memory, they provide continuous emotional support and interaction, enabling JOJO to redefine children’s companionship in the digital age.

Inspiration

This project integrates the brand’s iconic red-dot logo concept with the story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. It draws inspiration from the metaphor of emotional guidance within the story—small yet steadfast, gentle yet powerful, capable of offering comfort and reassurance in moments of loneliness. The design transforms AI from a purely functional tool into an emotionally perceptible presence.

Project Overview

Jojo AI Companion Robot has been a Silver winner in the Toys, Games and Hobby Products Design award category in the year 2025 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Silver A' Design Award celebrates top-tier designs that embody excellence and innovation. This award acknowledges creations that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional, reflecting the designer's deep understanding and skill. Silver A' Design Award recipients are recognized for their contribution to raising industry standards and advancing the practice of design. Their work often incorporates original innovations and elicits a strong emotional response, making a notable impact on the improvement of everyday life.
