Tableware Set for Innato Design
The main challenge of the Innato Collection was to turn rapid prototyping into final products evidencing their design process and methods in a aesthetically coherent way. The product reflects the influence of technology and digital fabrication on the design of daily objects and use of traditional materials, in this case seen on the nesting and laser cutting of the 3d models. They evidence an almost direct transition from digital modeling, to prototype, to product, while showcasing the adaptability of such an organic material as ceramics into something geometric and modern.

The Innato tableware set pieces reflect the influence of technology and digital fabrication in daily objects and traditional materials, in this case seen on the nesting and laser cutting of the 3d models. They evidence an almost direct transition from 3d modeling software, to prototype, to product. Furthermore, It gives people a chance to find pleasure in small, everyday things and elevate the ordinary to suit their creative demands, and have their belongings become conversation starters.

Made of ceramics inn a mostly semi manual process. The initial matrix was 3d modeled, later nested and laser cut. The pieces glued and the matrix prepared to cast a plaster mold to then extract the ceramic pieces for further burning and enamelling.
How to turn rapid prototyping into final products evidencing their design process and methods in a aesthetically coherent way.
This project was started in 2016 and has continued to gradually evolve and develop over years. The latest piece added to the set was designed in 2019.
The Innato Tableware set is meant to be a functional yet decorative collection. The saucer plates have an indentation which adds stability during transport to the cups placed on it. The additional space created by the placement of the cup to a side allows to set a "snack" like biscuits, muffins or such in the plate at the same time making it visually appealing when serving a table.
The project began as an exploration of the use of technology to design using natural materials like ceramics. Blending contradicting geometries and concepts. And exploiting the benefits of rapid prototyping.
Innato is inspired by the duality between classic and modern styles and a constant blend between organic and geometric made possible by the main material itself. Ceramics, often used in very organic and classic scenarios can be given a contemporary/modern feel through shape, color and graphics. It is also inspired by the evolution of prototyping techniques aimed by technology and the impact they can have on how we conceive and design objects and the aesthetics that are somewhat forced by them.
