House for Fernando Abelleyro, architect
Using wood as the main constructive element, the house displaces its two levels in section, generating a glazed roof to integrate with the context and allow natural light to enter. The double height space articulates that relationship between the ground floor, the upper floor and the landscape. A metal roof over the skylight flies, protecting it from the incidence of the western sun and formally rebuilding the volume, framing the vision of the natural environment. The program is articulated by locating public uses on the ground floor and private uses on the upper floor.

The project seeks to establish a relationship between the house and the context,to enable maximum natural light. Moving the floors in section, creating a double-height space with a glazed ceiling, which allows the interior of the house on its two floors to be visually and spatially integrated with the surroundings, favoring the entry of light. In turn, a metal roof with a wooden structure that flies over skylight, protects it from the incidence of the west sun.

Materialization of this house crossed by various negative aspects that I had to face at the time of its concretion: first, the current legislation that required obtaining a technical aptitude certificate, which translates into the preparation of a manual of the procedures and construction and assembly details that I had to develop in record time. On the other hand, construction times and costs were altered and affected by a strong economic crisis that affected my country in late 2001; finally, a complex stumbling block, subject to the difficulty of obtaining qualified manpower to erect the house, considering technology , project and scarce implementation of this construction system in the region where the project is implanted, which forced us to train highly amount of staff to carry out the house before and during the construction process. All obstacles were successfully drawn.
The project started in december 2001 and finished on 2002. it is located in Escobar, Province of Buenos Aires.
The essential search to generate a fluid and harmonious relationship with the natural environment. Occupy the space rising from it, generating an object materialized with a natural and simple reading material.
Type of research: -Wooden architecture, project and purpose development. Originality. Research objectives: -Achieve an innovative project from its wooden construction. -To deepen the development and scope of wood technology in the field of our architecture. -Generate a rational construction system that meets technical conditions for its normalization. -Manage light and visuals, and the relationship between architecture and environment. Methodology, data collection and research tools used, participants or experiments: -Research and project development. -Rationalization, cutting and purposeful scheme based on the availability and commercialization of wood, sections, dimensions and squares. -Experimenting with the development of construction parts assembled in the workshop and assembled on site. Results, perceptions and impacts: The Santos house was a trigger for later wooden projects. From its dissemination, we design and build new works with this technology, protected by our growth and professional expertise. One of the most outstanding aspects was the projection of the house as an Architectural fact. A Work that consolidated our studio and allowed us to continue developing new works with this technology. It obtained prizes, evaluations and publications, and was used as a referential study and analysis project in the UBA's Faculty of Architecture. Without hesitation, the potential and projection of Casa Santos was pleasantly unexpected for us.
The need to promote a typological construction that enhances versatility and constructive possibility that wood offers; in our country it was never widely accepted as a reliable and noble construction material. It was necessary to generate a project wich expresses the potential of this wonderful material. The inspiration was given by the context itself, given the search to articulate a fluid relationship between the interior and the exterior.
