Home Garden for Aurea Garden Dagmara Berent
It is a tiny space with an area of 120 m2. The proportions of the long but narrow garden have been improved by using solutions that shorten the distances and enlarge and widen the space to the sides. The composition is divided by geometric lines that are pleasing to the eye: lawn, paths, borders, wooden garden architecture. The main assumption was to create a place to relax for a family of 4 with interesting plants and a pond with a collection of koi fish.

small city garden, home garden, modern garden,
The paths and stairs to the garden are finished with granite slabs. The paths and terraces are made of composite boards, partially suspended over the surface of the pond. The soil from the digging of the pond was removed with wheelbarrows and buckets due to the very difficult access to the garden. Everything was brought in through the house or over a fence. We planted new colourful flowers and lots of tulips.
During the design process, we had to create a modern garden that would complement the interior of the building. We also wanted it to be functional. We had to obstruct the view of nearby neighbouring buildings. During the construction of the garden, we had very limited access to the garden. All materials and plants were brought into the garden by hand.
The project was completed in 2017. The construction of the garden began in February 2018 and was completed in November 2018. In June 2019, the garden programme "Maja in the Garden" was recorded there. The garden is featured in many articles in major newspapers about gardens and home interiors.
All garden features (lighting, pond, fountain and gazebo sounds) are supported by smart home technology. They are controlled by the owners' phone. The garden changes in the evening thanks to the designed lighting under the paths and numerous floodlights. Plants attract butterflies and other insects. The garden changes all year round.
Before starting the project, we carried – out a vegetation inventory on the plot to be able to use it in the new project. We made accurate measurements and soil analyses.
The inspiration was derived from the small city gardens of Great Britain. Creating individual areas and a peaceful oasis was meant to allow everyone to have their own a tranquil place. The main goal was to extend the interior of the house and create more living space. The project was designed to divert attention from the hustle and bustle of the city and turn to nature.
