brightness, share community, scale design, town void, small urban hotel
Steel frame and Extrusion molded cement.
For the hotel, there is the required size. But this site is too small to give enough wideness. However we make use of this small and get the big brightness into the hotel room by the big, compared this room size, window.
January 2018~January 2020
Many hotels in the city center have to plan small rooms in order to increase profitability. Under such circumstances, this plan uses the keywords "town VOID," "guest room SCALE design," and "share COMMUNITY." We aimed for a "new hotel life" that realizes a private life that is a little different from everyday life, while keeping comfort and relaxation at the root.
With the theme of "chemical reaction by adding community", this plan makes use of experience such as share house, collective house, hostel and hotel. Based on our track record of accumulating the idea of "designing connections" in both software and hardware, we have realized a hotel for business people and leisure use in Japan and overseas in the Hamamatsucho area of Tokyo. At hostels such as "IMANO TOKYO", in addition to the public cafe lounge, a common space is created in each guest room and on the flow line around the water. It's a different point. A community does not grow with space, but lives because it is created in a place where people come and go as needed. And what is common to the foundation is the attitude of seeking comfort, which has been cultivated by the request of the owner who actually lives as many as the number of dwelling units by designing 19 cooperative houses.
This proposal is mainly derived from the characteristics of this site and the recent hotel situation. Initially, the planned site was being considered for use as a condominium site. However, due to the recent increase in inbound tourists and the trend of hosting the Olympic Games, the Hamamatsucho area has become attractive as a hotel location and has a history of conversion to a hotel plan.
