Residential House for Michihiro Matsuo: METAPH ARCHITECT ASSOCIATES
Open and impressive architecture with windows throughout the road. It is a garage house where three hobby cars can be parked on a small site in a residential area, and the car and people's lives are balanced appropriately, and the architecture itself is evaluated as a skillful design that is a gallery. And although the composition of the space is very simple, the continuous windows arranged in the horizontal direction form a beautiful and well-balanced facade.

Unique Properties
An open and impressive building with three hobby cars parked on a small land in the city and windows throughout the road. This large space and large opening are formed by a wooden structure. The space is simply constructed, with a series of horizontally arranged windows forming a beautifully balanced façade.

Production Technology
Complex and daring space configuration is building strength will be anxiety. In Japan, which is an earthquake-prone country, structural calculations are extremely important and the utmost consideration is being given to the heavy use of wood structures.
Design Challenge
As an urban residential area, we will realize a rich and open life and protect the privacy of residents. A highly open design is realized with a wooden structure, contributing to low carbonization. In addition, ensuring excellent design while ensuring earthquake resistance in Japan, which is a country with many earthquakes, is a major issue.
Project Duration
The project was completed in Hyogo, Japan in November 2020
Operation Flow
The first floor is mainly used as a garage. The living space is located on the second floor and above. It has become a openness residential, but fine devised to line-of-sight does not intersect with the passers-by have been made.
Research
Verification of openness and privacy of houses planned in urban areas. Held a tour in the field, we conducted a questionnaire from a third party, to explore.
Inspiration
Houses built in urban areas are often designed to be closed. Consider designing large open homes in urban areas, focusing on windows that connect to society.
