Equine Design for Mimark Mimarlık

The equestrian facility consist of indoor/outdoor arena, club house, guest house and a private housing. The facility designed for private use however it is developed in international FEI standards. Design inspiration came from the farm's location and the materiality just off the forest. It is modern and compact. The importance of design is ''health of horses''. The starting point always is horses and relation with its nature. The design can not be separated from horses nature life. That's why the layout and the materiality all refers to nature life and health.

Unique Properties

It is unique design considered as behaviour and health of horses and riders which lead to design make it compact, simple and modern. Since it is about nature and horses, the design material specially chosed from nature itself.

Production Technology

It is steel structural and the facade is mechanical stone cladding, the ceiling is wooden and the finally is metal roofing. Most importantly different materializing from standard architectural elements is sand and its watering technology. Besides that for natural ventilation and lighting glass operable roofs are attached the design.

Design Challenge

The limited area forced the design when considered the international race requirements. Beside that the elevation of area was lower than the stream elevation. It was must to consider re-designing of current elevations.

Project Duration

The project is started in ends of 2019 finished in 2020' new starting. The location in Beykoz, İstanbul, Turkey

Operation Flow

Thanks to compact design, the building require less energy, less management cost and more sufficiency. The building became more sustainable for both users which are not only riders but also horses by means of accessibility.

The research from published books of Prof. Dr. Ulrich Schnitzer and e-books ''Healthy Environment'' World-wide examples Fair visits, Equitana in Germany - Equestrian Sports World Fair in 2018-2020

Inspiration

I am an architect and licensed rider. That's why I can observe the behavior and requirements from first hand, from by myself and my experience. That's the my initial inspritation designing for horses make them to live in better quality and beauty.

Project Overview

IIEC Equine Design has been a Silver winner in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design award category in the year 2020 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
