Building for Peng Architects
The fact that large-scale buildings will produce microclimatic changes to the environment happens to be an architectural strategy in this project. The atrium is under shade most of the day, naturally becoming a comfortable outdoor space. To achieve effective daylighting, the design thins the volume of the building and then optimizes the vertical traffic lines.

After the redevelopment, in addition to the renovation of the original working space, the project will create a shared complex space integrating fashion and entertainment which open to the public population. The project is expected to be a landmark building, which also provides a demonstration of the green and sustainable development of the city.

Considering the hot and humid climate in Manila, the materials need to be rust-proof and moisture-proof. At the same time, the facade of the building uses a light color to reduce the amount of light absorption and reduce the temperature. The main materials adopted include concrete, aluminum plate, and glass.
To solve the problem of how to integrate the park and landscape in the urban complex, the park landscape is raised to the roof of the podium, becoming a comfortable roof garden that combines the sunlight of the building with the self-shading and ventilation.
The project is designed in 2017 and it has been approved by the President of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, and it has gone to further phrase.
The railings of the building are equipped with transparent photovoltaic glass, which can collect and use solar energy. The roof of the commercial podium is designed as an urban garden, which greatly reduces the heat island effect. It is not only the front garden of the hotel but also a sports park for citizens to share and interact.
Located at the northeast corner of Bonifacio Global City in the Philippines, the project site is the most economically prosperous area in Metro Manila. The original building is the office of the Philippine National Petroleum Corporation and the Department of Energy.
Inspired by the existing atrium office space, the design is combined with the elliptical outline to maximize the utilization rate of the site. Under the conditions of echoing the sunshine, external climate, urban landscape, and commercial connection, the building forms a three-dimensional O-shape urban complex (Mega City) with a scale of 400,000 square meters, including office, residential, hotel, commerce, and meeting space.
