Villa for AAD Architecture Office
Two arches villa is located in a calming environment in Damavand, Iran. The design process of the villa tries to reflect the origins of Iranian architecture from a modern point of view. All the principles and spatial hierarchy are considered in the plan design of this building to provide privacy and comfort for its inhabitants. Inspired by Iranian gardens, a waterway is positioned as a main axis of the site. A white plane has also been used as a form between two arches to divide public and private spaces. In order to connect these areas on the first floor, a bridge has been used as a corridor.

Arches, Iranian gardens, trees, bricks, waterway
This building is a combination of concrete and metal with brick cladding. The columns and the floor of the building are made of metal structure. Rounded arches are generally made of compact brick and plaster and mortar. But in this building we decided to use concrete to shape the arches and then we placed that on a top of metal structure and at the final stage we used bricks as a finishing for the exterior and exterior walls.
The small dimensions of the site was a challenge that leads us toward a minimal and formal volumetric design.
Location: Damavand, Iran Design Year: 2020
Two Arches villa is preparing for implementation so its structure and technology is not completed yet. However, in terms of material, we decided to design this building based on the concrete and metal structure and in order to reflect our initial concept, we used bricks to cover the walls at the final stage.
In the projects that have been carried out in the recent years, AAD Architecture Office has tried to create a high quality living space by considering the potential of the site. This Project is located in a summer area and considering the rich and traditional background of the region, we finally reached this spatial quality and volume.
Inspired by Iranian gardens, we positioned a waterway as a main axis of the site. As well as that, we used a white plane as a form between two arches to divide public and private spaces. In order to make a connection between these areas in first floor, we used a bridge to work as a corridor. By positioning all the windows toward the main courtyard and the street, we tried to reflect the concept of extroversion and introversion of Iranian architecture in this building.
