Residential House for CEDARS INTERIOR & IMAGE DESIGN
Moon of Elegance is specifically designed for a retired senior couple, an easy flow of movement requires curvy elements without any sharp angles for safety concerns, and the sofa and the coffee table are also chamfered accordingly. Unlike the square layout of regular residences, Moon of Elegance has a small footage but makes the best of the space by means of many see-through elements. The integrated spatial design is highly functional, while making the space look bigger. Safety, practicality and easy maintenance for senior users are also considered.

As the homeowners are fond of hardwood and pottery, the dining table is made of distinctive, subdued African glistening teak with non-toxic paint to stabilize the color scheme in the space. The island next to it is made of acid- and heat-resistant clay tiles, which are not only easy to clean but add variety to the section.

At the entrance, see-through storage is installed using one-piece iron and brushed hardwood veneer. Its soft light-color tone continues into the system cabinets on the main wall in the common area. The warm-toned wood softens the marble walls, making for a touch of modesty and elegance. Partitions on the ceiling as well as softer, indirect lighting serve to define the living room.
Unlike the square layout of regular residences, Moon of Elegance has a small footage but makes the best of the space by means of many see-through elements. The color scheme features a warm dull tone. The beam above the living room where the original two units are connected has smooth surfacing, and chandeliers are relinquished to retain the original height of the space. The integrated spatial design is highly functional, while making the space look bigger. Safety, practicality and easy maintenance for senior users are also considered.
The project finished in January 2021 in Taichung.
Curvy sofas in the living room are free of sharp angles, enhancing mobility in the space. Brown tiles on the floor have a texture resembling fair-faced concrete, achieving consistency in the color scheme. The original wall between the study in the back and the hallway has been taken down. In its place are hardwood cabinets on three sides featuring matte tinted glass of different colors such as gray and amber-yellow well as glass with rain-icicle patterns, through which light penetrates and is reflected, presenting a spectrum of colors. In this way, light can go further into the hallway and give a splendid play of colors day and night, adding fun and creativity to the space and transforming the study into a moonlight treasure box. The master bedroom behind the living room has storage behind the bed to adjust spatial proportion and hide the beam from sight. The original wall between the master bedroom and the bathroom has also been torn down and replaced by an aluminum-framed door with matt glass of rain-icicle patterns, which lets natural light in and presents a simple style. In the master bathroom, the shower and the bathtub are separated, resembling the layout of a hotel bathroom. The sink and the bathtub are also covered with clay tiles, while the mirror is specifically selected to define the sections as well as allowing the light in. In Moon of Elegance, the software and hardware work perfectly well together. Lighting is organized based on needs in different sections, using easy-to-clean light fixtures that do not take up room. The conception of elegance and a slow-paced life are thus consistent throughout the entire residence.
Characterized by salmon pink panels with matte baked enamel finish, the system cabinets in the kitchen present gradations of warm colors, and are greaseproof, heat-resistant and stain-resistant. Storage is designed taking into careful consideration the homeowners’ needs, convenient to senior users.
