Office Space for Form Space Design
In this design, modern materials are brought into the space with classical lines. Galvanized mesh panels are used to design partitions and stairwells, allowing light and shadow to flow through each space, combined light penetrating materials to let the light show the various expressions of the space. The black and white mirrored corridor inspired by abstract painter Pierre Soulages, creates the illusion of a time tunnel, allowing people to wander between classical and modern.

The interior is designed with modern elements to interpret the classical style, bringing galvanized mesh panels into the space as screens and ceilings between staircases. The mesh panel has a penetrating characteristic to bring in light, so that the space can form natural ripples and dance with light and shadow. This design creates an artistic and stylish appearance through the use of contradictory elements.
Symmetry, neoclassical, modern, material experimental, Corinthian Order, corrugated sheet, Pierre Soulages
The concept of the corridor comes from Pierre Soulages paintings, using black and white stripes and black mirrors to create a visual interlacing effect, like a time tunnel. Through the mirror effect, light and different materials blending with each other, enlarging the depth of field and bringing spaciousness. The design of the ceiling is different from the common symmetrical approach, and is illustrated by asymmetrical collage carvings, allowing the classical to be presented in a modern form.
This is not a newly built project, but a retrofit of the original building. Corrugated sheet and galvanized mesh panels are the symbol of inexpensive materials in Taiwan, often used in factories and countryside bungalows. In this case, the designer has taken a common, mundane material and elevated its value with the use of color palette, structure and classical elements to make it both modern and technological.
This project is built in Taiwan.
The designer installed galvanized mesh panels and metallic water ripple glass panels in the staircase, open the sense of space through the large vertical window openings. With a large amount of light and plain white walls, the designer let the expression of the space change with the weather and time of day.
In Pierre Soulages paintings, the squeegee is used to create strong color blocks and stripes on the paint. The texture becomes the visual focal point, and the presence of light is felt in the concavity and convexity of the paint. Therefore, this project is based on the development of a classical and modern space, full of texture and the flow of light and shadow.
Inspired by the abstract painter Pierre Soulages, the design explores the changing relationship between black, line and light through Pierre Soulages powerful and textured style of painting. The designer uses light as a design element, and through the reflection and interplay of colors and spatial textures, a sense of natural rhythm is derived from the space.
