Residential House for SYCM-DESIGN
The hostess is the founder of "Boyfriend", a skincare brand in Taiwan, which inspires the designer to incorporate the company's logo and brand spirit into the many curvy elements symbolic of a lover's hug. A large quantity of light wood-vein tones are also used, and the design features an elegant Scandinavian color palette. Natural, refreshing tones dab the space, creating a feeling of throwing oneself into a boyfriend's arms and being cared for and pampered.

The studiostudy, which the hostess places the most emphasis on, is defined by a glass sliding door. The white keynote tone serves to declutter the space and make it look clean and neat. In this pure white space, the wall transforms the brand's logo, with the circle and yellow tone symbolizing a rising sun, which corresponds with the semicircular three dimensional form of the cabinetry and exudes vibrancy as a finishing touch.

To resolve the feng-shui problem of chuantangsha-a direct view from the entryway to the back of the residence-that the host is concerned about, a screen and a TV wall tactfully integrate functionality and visual division, gently obstructing direct sightline from the entrance. Embedded into the upper part of the TV wall is some glass, which retains natural light from the living-room French windows and allows it to permeate into the entryway.
Around the corner next to the entryway is the dining room, with a large RC beam above. As there is a height of a mere 2.3 meters below the beam, the designer specifically applies varied colors on the ceiling, elevating the space visually by means of color differences and reducing the sense of oppression so that the dining room in the corner does not look cramped. In addition, smooth light wood-vein curves are used for the cabinetry, which, paired with its white surface, is consistent with the embrace theme in the entire space, conveying a gentle and refreshing vibe.
The project finished in December 2021 in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan.
The living room is characterized by light tones, with its feature wall having a touch of daybreak green at dawn that injects life and poetic feel into the space as well as continuing the cozy, clean and energetic elements of the hostess’s brand. The master bedroom enjoys natural light from large French windows, with a coherent white tone and light wood-vein to accentuate a comfy feel. The light wood-tone headboard, the dresser and the closet also share the same curvy chamfered element, which, partially accented with pink tones, makes for a look of three dimensionality. The guest room features flexible functionality, with a folded mattress and bedding stored below an elevated couch. In this way, the space can be utilized more freely and aptly.
The reorganized layout is complete inside and out, integrating beams and pillars as well as air-conditioning wiring. F1 rank eco-friendly building materials, non-toxic paint and energy-saving LED lighting are thoughtfully selected in remodeling. Carbon emissions by transporting materials are carefully reduced so as to construct a healthy residence in an environment-friendly way. After being meticulously laid out, this space of 69 square meters encompasses a smooth well-rounded flow, ample storage, and a cozy visual feel. Like a loving hug, it is loaded with love and affection, putting the family living here in its care.
The owners are a DINK couple. A large quantity of light wood-vein tones are also used, and the design features an elegant Scandinavian color palette.
