Residential Villa for Haletoke.Co.Ltd
The architect have taken the shape of the land around the villa as an inspiration, the sensation is that it flows with the scenery, enhancing rather than disturbing it. There is a good translation of those dynamic surroundings inside the villa in a compelling space with skipped floors, soaring a 2-story ceiling over a sunken conversation place and a 3-level deck. The panoramic nature views can be enjoyed from every point of the house. The architect has preferred to use in the interior mainly soft, natural materials like wood and has managed to give his personal touch with few antique pieces.

The villa is made not to disturb, but to embrace the land it stands on and its shape, flowing with the nature that surrounds it. The design achieved a dynamic space by choosing not to level the ground for the construction, but to accommodate the design on it, which resulted in skipped floors, soaring 2-story ceiling over a sunken conversation place and 3-leveled deck, all combined in a compelling space to enjoy the beautiful views of the scenic landscape around it. Soft materials like wood are dominant in the interior and few antique pieces add an accent to the design.

The SE structure, or Safety engineering structure is used here to achieve the open concept needed for this space. It is a Japanese Seismic-Resistant Method that uses wooden rigid-frame structure and enables the construction of vast free space that otherwise could only be achieved with high-cost steel structures.
The client request was the house to function as a residence, office and workshop at the same time. The spaces must be separated from each other, yet should not feel isolated. The client did not wanted to feel like living, working and recreating in the same place, but did not wanted to separate the places either.
Located in kanagawa prefecture Japan. Research, design and construction period is between fall of 2020 to spring of 2022.
The villa was built to respect and connect with the outside nature. The admiration of the landscape is translated in the interior, accomplishing dynamic spaces which at the same time bring in the piece and tranquility of the nature.
The main research was focused on the site. Since the place is surrounded by hills and mountains, make the villa seismic-resistant and landslide-resistant was a priority. The results of the research are reflected in the structure with the use of reinforced concrete and SE method.
The main inspiration for the villa is the shape of the land itself. The place is surrounded by mountains and hills and is elevated 4 meters above the street level. Following the unique aspect of the land and immediate environment, the house is designed on various levels. The kitchen and dining, the living, even the deck are all on the first floor but all stand on different levels.
