In the 182 square meters space in Taipei, the designer rearranges the layout of the house. The open space design or bed position skill are used to let the house owners enjoy the scenery outside the window no matter in the kitchen or on the bed, as if spending a leisurely vacation in a corner of Taipei. The 15cm deep serpentine curtain aside is full of three-dimensional feeling, so that the "Leisurely Vacation" gives the impression of comfort, as a hotel.

Unique Properties

In the space in Taipei, the couple, who have been living abroad for a long time, invited the designer to create a dwelling place for them to stay in Taiwan and share the family moment with their mother. When planning the layout, it also costs clever thought: in the public space and master bedroom, the open space design or bed position skill are used to let the house owners enjoy the beautiful scenery outside the window no matter in the kitchen or on the bed.

Production Technology

The designer takes the color white as the luxury theme, and matches the dark stable charm. On the material application, the marble, imported Italian thin brick, titanium plating metal, yellow colored glass, and wood floor are used to add a low-key sense of luxury. After entering the living room, the TV wall that makes of Italian thin brick and granite resistant to dirt and not easy to metamorphose; the 15cm deep serpentine curtain aside is full of three-dimensional feeling, so that the "Leisurely Vacation" gives the first impression of delicacy and comfort, just as a top hotel.

Design Challenge

In order to let the house owner can enjoy the beautiful scenery outside the window every day even on the bed, and collect the bright lighting outside the master bedroom, the designer specially places the bed in the gap of the L-shaped window, and then hangs the TV, to avoid interrupting the L-shaped continuous window; on the other hand, the designer places a semi-penetrable partition with glass and barbed wire in front of the door, to avoid the taboo of "seeing the bed after opening the door" and also make the space richer in layers.

Project Duration

The project located in Taipei and finished in 2021.

Operation Flow

Makes an open central island kitchen in the living room, to meet the demand for cooking daily light food, and also let the couple enjoy the distant mountain view outside the window without blocking when cooking. For the guest room, since the guest room just has visitors to live in occasionally, the designer also uses the concealed bed design, to let it can be used as guest room, and also can pack up the bed at ordinary times, as the recreational space of the house owners.

Research

In order to meet the needs of the owners and make the public space more open, the designer specially rearranges the original layout of the house, so that when the owners open the door, there is an end view of green and charming Italian thin bricks, with delicate gold frame edge adding luxury to the end view. Then moving forward, it can see the whole row of cocoa ash spray paint shoe cabinets, in addition to laying a stable vision, but also providing enough storage space.

Inspiration

In order to conform to the simple and luxurious style preferred by the owner and meet the use demand, the designer spent 10 months completely renovating the old house, with white as the main color, matching the dark soft decoration and some ornaments. The public space avoids too many compartments, but presents a sense of openness like a presidential suite, with a large mountain view outside the French window, as if spending a leisure vacation in a corner of Taipei.

Project Overview

Leisurely Vacation Residence has been a Bronze winner in the Interior Space and Exhibition Design award category in the year 2022 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality. It recognizes the dedication and skill of designers who produce work that stands out for its thoughtful development and innovative use of materials and technology. These designs are acknowledged for their professional execution and potential to influence industry standards positively. Winning this award highlights the designer's ability to blend form and function effectively, offering solutions that enhance people's lives and wellbeing.
