Unique Properties

This portable speaker features technology aesthetics and is comfortable to grip. Its compact, rounded body, a 3D dynamic flow texture used in the grille and cavity, a transparent shell and a breathing light, redefine the aesthetics for speakers. The 3D dynamic flow texture enhances the impact resistance of the grille, preventing deformation caused by accidental bumps. When placed on a surface, the inclined speaker directs the sound closer to ears, offering a superior listening experience.

Production Technology

The speaker employs precise metallic paint spraying technique, creating a visual effect reminiscent of flowing liquid. The iron speaker grille utilizes punching and etching processes coupled with a unique design to give a dynamic feel. The electroplated LED strip adds a layered sense and enhances the fashion appeal. The 3D texture on the transparent shell, along with the silicone USB plug and supports, ensures the stable placement pf the speaker during its charging.

Design Challenge

The challenge was to create a new design paradigm that aligns with the expectation of the brand for aesthetics and functionality. The 3D dynamic flow texture in the speaker grille perfectly harmonizes with rhythmic music, giving a dynamic feel and enhancing the auditory and visual experience. Furthermore, the speaker grille supports flexible replacement based on aesthetic preferences of users and various usage scenarios, enabling personalized customization of the speaker.

Project Duration

This product was designed in October, 2023 in Shenzhen, and will be launched in May, 2024, in Africa and Southeast Asia.

Operation Flow

A 45mm full range driver and a passive bass diaphragm shaping like a running track circle, combined with the self developed bass enhancement algorithm, lead to more realistic sounds with stunning bass. A light ring consisting of 12 LED beads supports rich dynamic lighting effects. Users are allowed to customize their own sound and lighting effects on the APP, immersively enjoying an audio visual feast. Additionally, intuitive physical buttons and indicator lights ensure easier operation.

Research

Today, users are not merely concerned with the acoustic performance of speakers. They also place significant emphasis on aesthetic expression and unique appearance, incorporating these aspects into their decision making process when selecting speakers. OBS300, featuring a distinctive design with a sense of technology, simple, intuitive operation, and impressive bass, stands out in the market with its own unique style.

Inspiration

Inspired by space futurism aesthetics, this speaker is designed to resemble a frozen capsule. Such a product, paired with the replaceable speaker grille and the design for stable placement, is both aesthetically pleasing and practical. With a profound understanding of the listening needs of young users, the design team has experimented with various materials and techniques, and finally created this distinctive small portable speaker.

Project Overview

Oraimo Obs300 Speaker has been a Bronze winner in the Audio and Sound Equipment Design award category in the year 2023 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality. It recognizes the dedication and skill of designers who produce work that stands out for its thoughtful development and innovative use of materials and technology. These designs are acknowledged for their professional execution and potential to influence industry standards positively. Winning this award highlights the designer's ability to blend form and function effectively, offering solutions that enhance people's lives and wellbeing.
