The project addresses several challenges to improve the sustainability and accessibility of Sky Soft Plus monthly contact lenses. Reducing packaging thickness by 90% and material usage by 80% presents engineering and design challenges. The elimination of plastic from the outer packaging and the incorporation of recycled material in the lens blister require careful material selection and manufacturing adjustments. Ensuring the use of eco-friendly inks for graphic printing adds complexity to the production process. Overcoming these challenges is crucial to realizing the project's goals and advancing towards a more sustainable and consumer-friendly product.
The project started in September 2023 and finished in November 2023 in Rome, and was exhibited in Mido Fair in Milan in February 2024.
