Zen Mood is a conceptual project centered in 3 key drivers: Minimalism, adaptability, and aesthetics. Individual segments are attached creating a variety of shapes and uses: homes, offices or showrooms can be generated making use of two formats. Each module has been designed with 3.20 x 6.00m arranged in 19m² within 01 or 02 floors. The transportation is mainly made by trucks, also it can be delivered and installed in just one day. It is a unique, contemporary design that creates simple, lively and creative spaces made possible through a clean and industrialized constructive method.

Production Technology

Steel frame structure with exterior finishing of ACM panels, interior finishing of plywood and core of thermoacoustic insulation.

Design Challenge

The main challenge was a house that could fit in parts as a truck load. Based on its dimensions, the house was split in four modules. Each has its own structure frame at the same time it should be assemble with the other modules. The floor plan layout had to be designed in other to be divided according to the structure.

Research

Felipe Savassi Modular Studio has a good know-how working on modular constructions. Francisco Eduardo, as an independent architect, worked on innovative projects that sough to explore new designs and construction technologies. After working together in a project using containers as main structure, the knowledge and previous experience helped them designing the Zen Mood.

Inspiration

Our inspiration came from the concept of modular minimalist houses like Wikkel House. The clean and sophisticated design and the minimalist concept is present in the shapes and in the materials that make up the project - metallic elements, wood, glass - of neutral colors, that relate well to the surrounding landscape, not overlapping but still configuring as a new composer element of it.

Project Overview

Zen Mood House has been a Silver winner in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design award category in the year 2019 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Silver A' Design Award celebrates top-tier designs that embody excellence and innovation. This award acknowledges creations that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional, reflecting the designer's deep understanding and skill. Silver A' Design Award recipients are recognized for their contribution to raising industry standards and advancing the practice of design. Their work often incorporates original innovations and elicits a strong emotional response, making a notable impact on the improvement of everyday life.
