The client of this project is Nobel Ceramic and Tiles, the supplier of most ceramic products for Starbucks, who founded its own brand, Cilin, and established its office in Neihu, Taipei. The design of the overall office space was inspired by ceramic from which design elements and vocabulary was generated. The office with showroom adopted white wall cabinet and grey Bolon carpet and black metalwork as its main elements.
Display Cabinet, Mug, Special Paint, Curtain Wall Glass, Open Office
For creating the stern and grand spatial qualities of the commercial space and the office that is befitting to the corporate core values, the reception lobby was treated with elegant grey plaster primer paint accentuating the humble beauty of ceramic. The interior of the office space adopted Mexin ceiling and Bolon carpet for acoustic consideration in creating a quiet working environment.
As the spatial expression is derived from the consideration of color and size of products on display in a boundless fashion, the design department has also requirements for sample storage, therefore, apart from the white minimalist design, the geometric linework has also helped to maintain the sense of order for the working area, complemented with recessed opening for product display which has further embellished this transitional space.
The project was completed in October 2013 in Taipei, Taiwan.
As the program purpose of merchandise showroom is to express the core imagery of products; therefore, the design has gone beyond the conventional rhythmic nature of normal space by injecting an enriched stream of brand characteristics in every segment of the showroom so that this space becomes a museum of exquisitely made objects which also makes it an ideal location for product introduction and sales discussion.
The ceiling of the showroom features a circular arc design symbolizing the round opening of a ceramic mug, as the showroom cabinet and white color wall softens the serious working ambiance but still maintain a sense of order and layers strung together within a spatial consistency.
The elevator lobby is imbued with the symbolism of Kiln, and as it is surrounded by timberwork, the warm and stern beauty of kilns was articulated grey-scale color relating to the personable texture. With LED lighting giving a layering effect to the interior, special door panels and installation artwork forming motifs of Taiwanese Folk Art has brought strong contrast in this visual focus of this area.
