The hardest part of this design is the exact expression. From a historical perspective, everything changes in a regular way, people should go with nature and seize the moment. From a social perspective, things are small, the world is big, people need to be open-minded, keep harmonious coexistence with everything. How to express Chinese culture and traditional philosophy through bookbinding and layout design is the research challenge.
The project started in March 2019 and finished in June 2019 in China.
The binding form of folding comes from the ancient book. It has the advantage of being easy to turn the pages, and gives people a sense of history and philosophy. This kind of page binding, book could be expanded as needed, in part or all. When the person reads, can produce a lot of continuous space. This is an elegant dynamic process, the layout is constantly changing, whether the book closed or open, will produce different three dimensional display.
The research objectives is the redesign of traditional culture, it is also a response to the growing demand for traditional culture and Chinese elements in commercial design. The design methods include folding and binding, layout design, material application, etc. Printing tools includes laser engraving, laser printing and hot stamping. The conclusion is that the ingenious combination of modern elements and historical culture can achieve better design results.
Firstly, the rise of Chinese culture and national traditions in both commercial design and academic field is a important background factor.
