Sun Lounger for Pontoeu
Zero is modular, and proposes the elongation of the main piece through a simple connection of the cylindrical tubes, thus allowing different layouts, resulting in a sculptural and organic format. It is called Zero because it is close to the ground, because it offers a connection with the energy of the earth and a position open to the sun, to the sky. Zero depends on other pieces to be one. A major challenge was to find the correct angle of curvature to give the piece the anatomy that would generate comfort for the user.

The solution for this type of furniture has an originality that piques curiosity, the tubular piece is modular, has a measure of 0.90m in length or its multiple with 1.80m, which makes it possible to have a single lounger or several, the pieces can be arranged on opposite sides or on the same side, favoring any type of environment and layout, and can be used in a residence, a hotel, a swimming pool area, among others.
Brazilian wood, comfortable lounger, new design, unique solution for a lounger, sculptural design, external area, resistant.
The cylindrical part is composed of solid Cumaru wood, a resistant Brazilian wood that has a good performance in the external area, the slatted wood is screwed to an internal aluminum core. The lounger was molded in aluminum, received electrostatic painting and synthetic cast canvas. The seat has an anatomical curve, which provides comfort to the user.
The main challenge was to find the right and comfortable curve for the user to lie on the piece.
The project was conceived in September 2018 in São Paulo, the prototype started in September 2019 in São Paulo, being presented at the launch of the Mais 55 Design brand in São Paulo in June 2020 through a live presentation on Casa Vogue Brasil's Instagram.
The main piece, which is the sun lounger, has a curve in the headboard that does not reach the floor, the piece's sustenance occurs in the fitting and support of the cylindrical piece, thus forming a harmonious set between two different materials, with different shapes.
The research took place in the main field of finding the necessary comfort and angle for the curve of the chaise, it was necessary to simulate the body in a semi-lying position to find the position, after this search for the best design, it was necessary to study the best way to structure the two pieces, the cylinder that needed a metallic soul, and the deck chair that needed reinforcement on the bottom, but in a convex shape so as not to touch the user's body and bring discomfort.
The simple geometry of the circle inspired the creation of this product, which was born from a free sketch. The main piece, which is a seat, rests on the tubular piece, which in addition to supporting and balancing the lounger, creates a provocative and sculptural element.
