It is an interior design case for a sales center of a large-scale real estate project. The exterior walls of the special-shaped building are made of glass, with an interior area of 2,700 square meters. Beneath the 10-meter-high roof, a wooden installation runs through space, forming a visual focal point and a clue to the functional layout. The sun shining through the glass roof interacts with the wooden installation below, creating a changing light and shadow effect.
Interior Design, Real Estate Project Sales Center, Wooden Installation, Synthesis with Surroundings
The visual focus of this case is a suspended wooden structure device, and the spatial layout unfolds along this huge device. This device covers an area of more than 2000 square meters. It is composed of many components with different sizes. This device involves different technical links in modeling design, structural design, and integrated installation. Modeling design: According to the designer’s idea, the styling of the device itself must be considered, as well as the light and shadow patterns generated by the device under different lighting conditions. The designer repeatedly adjusted the device model through the computer software developed by himself, and finally determined the shape of rice leaves which covers an area of 93 square meters and the combination of tens of thousands of wooden fences spreading along the meridians of the leaves, as well as the precise size and connection position of each component. Structural design: The entire wooden structure device weighs more than 100 tons. It is fixed by a suspension method. Since the center of the building roof is made of glass, the designer also uses a steel cantilever beam. The completed structural design not only provides perfect visual effect, but also ensures absolute safety. On-site installation: The entire device includes tens of thousands of components and 10 steel structure fixtures. All of them are installed on site. Since each component has a different size and style, the final installation stage must be carried through in the air which requires extremely high professional capabilities. To ensure the safety and work efficiency of the construction site, the designer will have to personally participate in project management at the construction site until the work is completed.
With an area of over 2000 square meters, tens of wooden structures have to be assembled in the air. The designer used an original way to connect the parts. This method is inspired by the traditional Chinese wooden structure building connection principle. It has high installation efficiency, stable structure, and can ensure the safety of installation and usage. At the same time, the individual part can be exchanged without affecting the overall structure.
Design Duration: March 2020 to June 2020 Date of Completion: October 2020 Project Address: Pu'er, Yunnan, China
The designer wanted to take advantage of the glass central roof and sunshine to create a unique spatial characteristic. A large tealeaf-shaped installation is constructed under the roof. The device is carefully designed to reflect different patterns of light depending on the position of the Sun. Sometimes they coalesced into one giant leaf, and sometimes they broke down into millions of tiny leaves. These varying light and shadow effects make the space vivid and attractive.
The creation of the business center's overall space atmosphere The integration of space and natural environment The design, manufacture, and installation of large space projects The construction of interactive effects between space installations and daylight
The inspiration comes from the tea culture of the area where the real estate project locates. The exterior of the building is a conch shape like the shape of cooked tea. The designer uses a tea-shaped device in the center in the center of the roof and wood lines to represent abstract leaf veins that extended around the space to continue the artistic concept of the building's exterior appearance. The connection is representing the transformation process of a new tea leaf that grows to mature.
