Respiratory Mask for AIR DEVICE Design Team
AD Light series is a full face powered respiratory mask with integrated HEPA filtration. Light is a modular platform that was made to serve as a broad solution for many uses (regular, medical, sport, industry..) and can be easily upgraded or adjusted to specific uses. Adjustable positive pressure and air flow are just some of the mask's features. The innovative weight distribution design minimizes pressure on your face weighing only 245g. The battery system allows up to 16 hours of use. Light mask is a smart solution connected with a mobile app and with integrated AI in the device itself.

Production Technology
Optical clear Polycarbonate with special antiScratch and andFog coating, smart controls over paired mobile application combined with smart AirFlow adapting mechanism makes mask comfortable use of the mask for all general and active sport activities in daily use.
Design Challenge
The most important and most difficult was to create ergonomics and usability for the mask itself and its controls for the mask to be comfortable for daily use in normal life.
Project Duration
Project started in 2nd half of 2019. Market launch is expected to happen in the following months.
Operation Flow
Air is being taken in with a powerful silent fan from the outside and cleaned by HEPA filters (99.9% efficiency) before it is supplied into the mask. Exchangeable around face cushion allows to accommodate mask to the most faces with low-pressure tight fit for comfortable use during long hours.
Research
The project ignited as response to the pandemic. Currently, the mask is undergoing the PPE III certification and "crowd-testing" by selected betta testers. Started by one company, today a number of the specialized companies involved in the project being involved in the implementation of "add-ons" into the mask for it to be a respiratory platform, rather than just respirator. We target the mask to be available on the market by May-June this year.
Inspiration
This project started in 2019, even before we knew about the pandemic, but when pandemic broke out, we changed our direction a little bit when we found out PPE market needs innovation. Besides that, we are fans of Star Trek and Star Wars and we wanted to create something futuristic.

Light Series Respiratory Mask has been a Bronze winner in the Safety Clothing and Personal Protective Equipment Design award category in the year 2020 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
