A shelf with adjustable width, supported by a T-shaped structure. You can use it as a magazine rack by using the surface. You can also attach photos and posters with magnets. There is a sense of luxury and volume that does not make you feel assembling. It can be used 360 degrees, and shelves can be placed as a partition of the space. When exposed to light, the shadow of the partition falls on the shelf board, giving it a fantastic look.

The size of the shelf board is half the size of 900 mm x 1800 mm plywood, which is environmentally friendly and does not produce lumber. Finished with urethane coating to prevent warping of the wood. The T-shaped steel plate was made by welding offcuts.
In the trial production of wood, the higher the shelf, the more vulnerable it was to vibration and impact, and it was not stable. Over time, the wood may warp and float from the pillars, so I changed the material. A thin iron plate was used to convey the strength and stability of the T-shaped structure. The function of sticking magnets has been added, and the stability that has been a problem has been solved.
The project started in April 2021 and ended in December 2021.
The width of this shelf can be adjusted freely. Since no metal fittings are used, it can be easily assembled by stacking 5 shelves and 14 T-shaped parts. The 14 T-shaped parts are made of steel plate, and paper can be attached with a magnet. You can create your own pattern by using 14 T-shaped parts in any number, position, and angle, and you can enjoy a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment.
We sought a design with potential. While imagining the communication space created by having shelves, I made it while confirming the practicality and the aesthetic balance that moved me. We discovered a T-shape that has the role of a pillar and a partition, considering not only storage capacity, furniture space, and convenience of use, but also safety against falls due to impact and vibration without using metal fittings. .. I also found that by not providing a shelf frame, the small space does not feel cramped.
The inspiration for this shelf is characteristic of Japanese homes. Japan is a consumer society, and each person owns many things. In addition, Japanese houses have a small floor plan, and not only the space for furniture but also the storage space is small. In order to solve these problems, we designed the concept of a shelf that beautifully stores different types of things without making the small floor plan look cramped. The finished shelf reminds me of the feeling of decorating.
