Portable Rhinitis Nebulizer for TAO Design Studio
The design based on user behavior, nebulizes the medication so that users can use it elegantly and discreetly. In response to the large number of patients who misuse nasal spray products, this product allows patients to administer the medication correctly without learning by modifying the angle of the nozzle and adding a structural curve against the nasal cartilage and controlling the dosage released at one time by the switch button.

Atori's unconscious design, based on user behaviour, nebulizes the medication so that they can use it elegantly and discreetly. In response to the large number of patients who misuse nasal spray products, this product allows patients to administer the medication correctly without learning by modifying the angle of the nozzle and adding a structural curve against the nasal cartilage, and controlling the dosage released at one time by the switch.

The design uses a small ultrasonic nebulizer to convert liquid medication into a mist for inhalation therapy. Injection molding process to produce an integrated shell, with a replacement bottle of medicine to use, to extend the product life. Material: Silicone, PET, PVC.
During the design process, our team was looking for a portable and elegant way to deliver rhinitis medication and conquer the socially awkward situations that patients may encounter during the design process. With considerations around unconscious movements, ergonomic improvement, hygiene, and safety, we finally realized this design through the migration of nebulization technology to meet the needs of patients and enhance the experience of using the product.
The project started in January 2022 in Shanghai and finished in January 2022 in Shanghai, and was exhibited in H’art Beijing in January 2022.
The patient opens the lid of the portable nebulizer for rhinitis, holds it according to its shape and places the silicone nose pad against the nasal column, at which point the nozzle is naturally inserted into the nostril. Next, the user presses the switch to start the nebulized medication spray while inhaling it and then the symptoms are relieved.
The current rhinitis drugs on the market lack consideration in using scenarios, user experience, user psychology, and ergonomics. The inhalation nebulizer products are mainly used for oral inhalation therapy, and the nebulization technology has the potential to be used for treating rhinitis effectively. Our project team worked closely with professional physicians to solve those issues above and delivered an innovative and user-centered product design solution.
Allergic rhinitis is a prevalent disease nowadays, but patients lack suitable emergency methods when they have a sudden outbreak of the disease in public. The methods they usually use, such as blowing the nose with tissues, cannot remove the allergen in time, and the traditional spray-in medications are not suitable for use in public places due to the way of using and the product size. Hence, patients often embarrass themselves for their runny noses.
