Unique Properties
Adhere to the brand concept of "Because care, we share." to create a new way of pet home furnishing. Mew-gic is a DIY nail-free installation of infinitely extending pet furniture, designed to start a magical journey with a square board and a sisal column. Between the square plate and the square plate, the mortise and tenon joint can be used for quick connection. Every board is the same, allowing customers to experience the process from 1 to infinity.

Production Technology
Mew gic is made of natural environmental protection material - bamboo lamella, the panel is processed by CNC, and uses the principle of rotating buckle to realize three different shapes of the middle circular plate (cat channel, cat jumping platform, sealing plate), and the connection of the plates is made of matching plastics Tenon and tenon joints are used for connection. When the product is damaged, the user can send the damaged parts to the mall to replace with new parts. The sustainable product design avoids waste of resources and environmental pollution.
Design Challenge
The biggest challenge is the realization of the structure and the arbitrary combination of a single plate like a building block. We spent a lot of time on the calculation of the circular plate rotating structure. In addition, the mortise and tenon joints have also been tested repeatedly. Guarantee the load-bearing of the product.
Project Duration
The project started in Shenzhen in January 2021 and completed in Shenzhen in August 2021.
Operation Flow
When a single plate is used, it can be installed on the wall, and the circular plate in the middle can be rotated as a storage platform; multiple plates can be assembled into any shape of cat house through plastic tenon-and-mortise joints, which can be placed on the ground or combined. Create a playground for cats on the wall.
Research
With changes in the social relationship environment, public loneliness is on the rise. "Spiritual sustenance, enriching emotional life" has become the primary reason for raising pets; under the global pet upsurge, the pet consumption market maintains an average annual growth rate of 7%. The quality of products in the pet furniture market is uneven, and new insights into the physical and psychological needs of pets are lacking; traditional cat climbing frames have pain points such as large size, inconsistent with the home style, and difficult materials to clean up, so the development of human-pet harmony is based on pets. Life scenario-based design needs have become an important direction to meet the more diverse needs of customers.
Inspiration
Inspired by building blocks, we hope to realize infinite forms of furniture products through one component, so that users can experience the fun of DIY and create a paradise for cats.
Project Overview
Mew Gic Cat Furniture has been a Silver winner in the Pet Care, Toys, Supplies and Products for Animals Design award category in the year 2022 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
