A lounge chair that allows users to enjoy an elegant and comfortable experience while relaxing and releasing. The chair can satisfy users with different needs, so it needs to strike a balance between functionality and aesthetics. In terms of color, use a stable color system so that users can feel happy and relaxed when they see the chair. The design should respect the natural and comfortable human body posture, and at the same time take into account the layout and color of the space.

The wood is cut into different shapes of strips, and then glued together in a particular order to establish its initial shape, and then the excess material is manually planned to complete the final smooth curved shape.
In the process of design development, how to avoid being limited by the multitude of classic chair designs is a major challenge, as well as attempting to create clean, streamlined, and graceful curves without the ability to access large-scale bentwood manufacturing.
The project started in October 2022 and finished in December in Taiwan and was exhibited in Young Designers' Exhibition;YODEX TAIPEI.

With the economic growth in Taiwan and the increased emphasis on aesthetic education, The new generation is more willing to invest time and money in selecting furniture. Chairs, being versatile in their forms, are among the top choices for most people. Thus, when it comes to furniture selection in Taiwan's homes, the focus lies on comfort, visual appeal, and size. This research reminds me again the importance of designing products that closely align with the needs of users.
Drawing inspiration from the blooming of flowers and the imagery of cupped hands, this design creates the illusion of blossoming flowers when placed alone in the living room, and a sense of being cradled by supporting hands for human.
Yu-Cheng Wu Lounge Chair has been a Iron winner in the Furniture Design award category in the year 2023 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Iron A' Design Award is awarded to good designs that meet the rigorous professional and industrial standards set by the A' Design Awards. This recognition is reserved for works that demonstrate a solid understanding of design principles and show creativity within their execution. Recipients of the Iron A' Design Award are acknowledged for their practical innovations and contributions to their respective fields, providing solutions that improve quality of life and foster positive change. These designs are a testament to the skill and dedication of their creators, showcasing their ability to address real-world challenges through thoughtful design.
