Well's Lounge is a specially designed product family for indoor waiting areas. Its ergonomic structure promises long lasting comfort, reflecting the functionality and simplicity of Scandinavian design aesthetics with its warm wooden details. Well's is not just a physical product but also designed to support the mental and emotional wellbeing of individuals, making it a unique creation tailored for both physical and spiritual functions.

Production Technology

The main materials in the design include solid wood, foam, and fabric. The wooden legs are crafted from turned solid wood. The seat, back, and headrest sections consist of foam and fabric covering applied to the wooden structure. All materials are processed and produced through manual craftsmanship.

Design Challenge

The most challenging aspect during the design of the Well's Lounge Chair was to create a timeless and functional product that combines Scandinavian design philosophy with user ergonomics to provide well-being for both the body and soul. Throughout the design process, we faced internal challenges such as balancing aesthetics with functionality, shaping materials and forms that are beneficial for the body and soul. Additionally, managing external factors like market demands, price and production time, and standardization of the production process was also challenging.

Project Duration

The project started in April 2022 in Istanbul and finished in October 2022. The Wells was exhibited at the Orgatec New Vision Of Work fair in Cologne, Germany, in October 2022, and subsequently showcased at the Istanbul Furniture Fair in January 2023.

Operation Flow

Well's Lounge Chair prioritizes a user centric design for a simple, intuitive experience. With no complex mechanisms, its ergonomic structure seamlessly adapts to the user, offering comfort and support. While not physically transforming, it enhances the user's experience by focusing on both physical and emotional wellbeing. This thoughtful approach elevates performance and contributes to an overall sense of tranquility, making it a standout in modern seating.

Research

Research, We conducted comprehensive research to develop an indoor waiting chair based on interior trend analysis, Scandinavian design philosophy, user ergonomics, and minimalism. Type of Research, Our research included trend analysis, examination of design philosophy, ergonomic assessment, literature review on minimalism, wellbeing, and wellness. Research Objectives, Understanding interior design trends, embracing the fundamental principles of Scandinavian design philosophy, creating a perfect product in terms of user ergonomics, and integrating wellbeing and wellness concepts. Methodology, We followed an iterative process involving literature review, market research, user feedback, and design prototypes. Data Collection and Research Tools Used, Data was collected through surveys, focus groups, and specially developed prototype tests. Participants or Experiments, Participants included design experts, indoor users, ergonomic specialists, and individuals experienced in wellbeing. Results, We developed the Well's Lounge product, reflecting timeless simplicity beyond popular consumption, showcasing Scandinavian aesthetics, and incorporating ergonomic and wellbeing principles for indoor spaces. Insights and Impacts, The product exceeds user expectations in comfort and aesthetics, reflecting the philosophy of wellbeing in indoor spaces. Effect of the Research in RealLife Phenomena, The design aims to enhance daily life interactions by offering a product that combines physical and mental well-being, contributing positively to business, society, and the field of design itself.

Inspiration

Well's Lounge Chair is created with inspiration from wellness and wellbeing concepts. It focuses on providing both physical comfort and improving the user's emotional wellbeing. The design, influenced by Scandinavian style, aims to bring a calm atmosphere. Crafted using sustainable materials and ecofriendly practices, Well's combines comfort with a green lifestyle. It doesn't just offer furniture; it provides an experience that positively impacts users' lives.

Well's Lounge Chair has been a Bronze winner in the Furniture Design award category in the year 2023 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality.
