Unique Properties

The C700 is an ideal outdoor sports shoe for urban activities, with a perfect balance between functionality and design. The heel, made of flexible TPU material, is curved to support the arch, and the breathable mesh with supportive tech fabric on both sides and rubberised upper offers excellent stability and wraparound feel. The modern and minimalist design is inspired by urban architecture, allowing the personality of user to shine through.

Production Technology

Supporting frame technology enables the C700 to remain stable even when subjected to strong impacts, providing better support and protection for feet. Flexible TPU material, breathable mesh, microfibre tech fabric on both sides for support, and an upper wrapped toe with rubber tabs provide a more comfortable, breathable, stable, and wraparound feel. In addition, Vibram unique rubber formula makes the sole lightweight and provides non-slip gripping on all kinds of road surfaces.

Design Challenge

The challenge was to balance between the design elements that would complement functionality and style, thus bringing a new sporting experience. The shoe features a top wrap design provides a better sense of toe wrapping. The waistband has technology cloth and rubber sheets that have excellent tensile strength and abrasion resistance, reducing wear and tear due to impact during strenuous exercise. The simple styling combines a natural colour scheme with a personalised design for a unique look.

Project Duration

It was developed in July 2023 in Shanghai and launched in January 2024 in China.

Operation Flow

Supporting frame technology enables the C700 to remain stable even when subjected to strong impacts, reducing the risk of foot exostosis and sprain of the ankle. The curved arch design of the sole provides a natural fit for the user's foot. Combined with the flexible TPU heel, it greatly enhances the stabilising effect and effectively disperses the force of the sole, reducing foot fatigue. Vibram's unique rubber formula with multi-directional non-slip tooth texture ensures all-terrain anti-slip.

Research

Outdoor sports have taken off across the globe, with people becoming more health conscious and connected to nature and placing higher expectations on footwear as important sports equipment. Sports shoes designed for outdoor activities often have a conservative design and lack personalisation, which makes them less suitable for urban street style. Using advanced craftsmanship and high quality materials, the incorporation of fashion elements gives the C700 an attractive look.

Inspiration

The design team found inspiration in both urban architecture and natural parks and skillfully combined these contrasting styles to create a unique aesthetic experience for users. The overall shape is simple and smooth, with a checkered texture that complements the minimalist style of modern cities. The brand logo is subtly incorporated in the middle to reinforce its identity. In addition, the natural khaki colour scheme and dynamic wavy lines on the sole capture the outdoor vibe.

C700 Outdoor Sneakers has been a Golden winner in the Footwear, Shoes and Boots Design award category in the year 2023 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. Recognized as a major achievement by the A' Design Awards, these designs are characterized by their visionary approach and the exceptional skill of their creators.
