Composite Display Props for Xi 'an Academy of Fine Arts
This work combines a series of technologies such as display props, somatosensory interaction and laser induction to realize data visualization and behavior perception. The periphery of the device consists of four interaction nodes, namely, bath, travel, work and meal. The inside of the installation shows the phenomenon of environmental changes corresponding to such behaviors. The author wants to make people aware of the damage to the environment caused by certain behaviors and push people to protect environment through this work.

The exhibition is promoted by the brand environment, combining commercial display props with a series of technologies such as somatosensory interaction and laser induction to realize data visualization and behavior perception. The outer ring of the device concretizes people's most basic daily behaviors, while the inner ring implies the second world, which is intended to make people aware of their own damage to the environment and wake up people's environmental awareness.
Low-carbon, Digital, Composite Display Props, Information Interaction, Data Visualization
The interactive art installation consists of an octagonal stainless steel frame cage with an outer ring carrying a real-time interactive data visualization display and an inner ring consisting of four closed-loop chain reaction units. In the center is a platform for spectators to stand on. Among them, TouchDesigner connects with Arduino hardware to realize data visualization and interaction, partly through photoelectric switches. TouchDesigner is used for programming throughout the job.
During the development of the project, there were many programming problems and design creativity problems. We constantly explored the design dimension, iterated the design connotation of the work through service design, speculative design and social design, and explored efficient information cocoon from the perspective of data visualization.
The project was launched in Xi 'an in January 2023, completed in Xi 'an in May 2023, and exhibited at Xi 'an Gpark in June 2023.
The outer ring is a virtual device, the "Bath" interaction is the faucet, the "Car" interaction is the car start button and gas pedal, the "Frequent" interaction is the printer switch button, and the "Food" interaction is the knob and Leapmotion gesture catcher. The inner ring is a solid closed-loop chain reaction device, with a balance, a smoke machine, a printer, and a filter. When people enter the center, the inner ring begins to operate.
The design and implementation of the green and low-carbon concept of composite display props organically combines art, environmental protection, technology and sustainable development. Through the use of sustainable materials and renewable energy, reduce the impact on the environment, while using intelligent control technology and interactive ways to improve the efficiency and fun of the installation, to bring people a new art experience and sustainable lifestyle.
In the daily life of human beings, we found that most people lack the cognition of carbon emissions of their own behaviors. We summarized the carbon emission data of human behaviors in "bathing", "traveling", "working" and "cooking", so that the data can be visualized in front of people. Through interactive programming to restore behavioral data, immersive experience and enhance carbon emission cognition.
