Chandelier for Siero Carandash brand
The Lory Duck is designed as a suspension system assembled from modules made of brass and epoxy glass, each resembling a duck sliding effortlessly through cool waters. The modules also offer configurability; with a touch, each can be adjusted to face any direction and hang at any height. The basic shape of the lamp was born relatively quickly. However, it needed months of research and development with countless prototypes to create its perfect balance and the best look from all possible angles.

The biggest creative challenge for Serghei was to create a piece that was both minimalistic and yet still rich in character. He strived to create a chandelier with clean & simple lines, with each module of the piece composed to resemble a stylized duck. Again and again Serghei returned to a single them; paring away all unnecessary detail to leave only the essential and pure elements of the design. The final challenge was cost; production of a custom glass bulb is quite expensive, but in the end the designer came upon a good solution by using epoxy glass as the material.
The project had started in May 2018 in Moldova,Chisinau and finished in September 2018 .
During the design process, the designer Serghei Calarash developed a multitude of sketches and drawings, with special attention paid to the shape and technical characteristics of the modules, as well as the overall design and style of the chandelier. Special attention was drawn to shape and technical characteristics, as well as the design and style of the product. Those detailed drawings later proved to be essential in solving the many challenges in both the production and lighting of the piece, all of which culminated in the creation of the final concept for the Lory Ducks chandelier.
The basic shape of the lamp was born relatively quickly . However,it needed months of research and development with countless prototypes to create its perfect balance and the best look from all possible angles .
The inspiration in the design of this chandelier arose from seeking to capture the fluidity and serenity of a duck floating in calm waters. For reference and inspiration, Serghei Calarash created several sketches from photos of birds in nature; the wings, torso, beak and other such shapes that resembles a duck.
