Every corner of this cafe is tied together with a blend of breathtaking aesthetics that is before its time. Among the revolutionary design details include the Galaxy Annulus, Floating Counters, Virtual and Reality, Reversal and Illusions, as well as Time Tunnel, created to bring patrons along this spellbinding journey through space and time.

Production Technology
Arch framed windows panels provide a healthy amount of natural light compared to the cool dark-coloured interior scheme, thus creating a mysterious atmosphere that is both laid back and edgy. Steel elements are incorporated to provide soothing illuminations while brick, wood and cement surfaces bring out the rustic vibe of this design. A refined touch from marble, leather and fabric that contrasts the raw rustic elements of its cement flooring and coarse wall designs, finished with dramatic neon lights.
Design Challenge
The biggest challenge of this design was to unify the spaces in both shop units while providing a sensible flow of space and concept that balances the needs of the patrons as well as practical specifications of the operation. Instead of relying on the run-of-the-mill designs for cafes, the challenge lies in incorporating bold new ideas and the brand identity into the actual design of the space.
Project Duration
This project started in July 2019 and is completed in September 2019. The project is based in The Landmark Klang, Selangor, Malaysia.
Operation Flow
Greeted by an elegant storefront featuring full length glass panels in a chic interpretation of the 1920s French glamour, patrons will find themselves drawn to the counter area, which is decked out in concrete slabs and abstract golden boxes. A metal-framed galaxy time clock with twinkle LED lights adorns the ceiling at the center of the main social space with bar high counter also functions as an anchor to this timeless yet mysterious aesthetic. Beneath it lays a bread cart display at another main entrance. At one side, pink unicorn, crystal chandeliers, chair, photo frames, books and other decorating objects floating in the air above the long table seating area. Lead deeper into the cafe visually, patrons will find a sofa seating area furnished with cosy furniture. Another end of the space, fireplace book rack, side tables, pendant lamps and rug hanging up-side-down from the eye level to create an illusion of reversed.
Research
In preparation for this project upon receiving the brief from the client, researches have been conducted particularly in the juxtaposition of elements: light vs dark, raw vs refine, time vs space, abstract vs concrete, etc. The idea behind these studies was to identify a single, unifying concept that positions this cafe and its brand in a unique and innovative light to appeal to patrons by offering a spectacularly imaginative ambiance.
Inspiration
Inspired by the symbiotic relationship between light and shadow, this retail space has been re-imagined as a unique hangout spot that is cosy, mysterious and practical. By keeping things rustic with the use of raw industrial features, this design exhibits a plethora of intriguing visual illusions, which brings forth a space that keeps its patrons captivated in all 5 senses. Ultimately, the juxtaposition of each element paves the way for an revolutionary concept that aims to offer an otherworldly experience.
