The Fragment 8 retro camera uses modern digital technology to faithfully recreate the authentic look of Super 8 home movies, but with the convenience of USB output in either MP4 or GIF formats. The Fragment 8 can shoot in either 9 frames per second or 24 and options include three different add-on lenses for specialized effects.

We developed a system inside the camera that allow user to directly output the video as the gif format. User can easily capture the gif format video by clicking a simple button.

This project started from March 2019 in Hong Kong
There are three operating mode including "off", "movie" and "gif" mode. User can turn on the camera by rotating the mode button to either "movie" or "gif" mode. There is also a frame per second selection button for different scene applications. A rotating plate can be installed to convenience the user in applying different filter lenses such as Kaleidoscope Six, Star Filter and Radial Filter, etc..

The aim of this project is to promote the culture of recording bits of life by way of intuitive shooting, to capture those conveniently forgotten fragments in life. In designing this camera, we combined the features of 8mm film camera in the 1960s with the technology of modern digital photography. We hope this product can revolutionize traditional camera and create new opportunities for the culture of photography.
