Production Technology
For this design it was important to make a good 3d drawing of the model. The 3d model was needed at a later stage of the production process to be able to give all elements such as legs and backrest the correct shapes and to make them with a cnc machine. The major challenges in the design was making the connections in the round parts.
Design Challenge
The most difficult part of the design was to convert the design into the actual product. At an early stage it soon became clear that from the start of the prototyping process changes had to be made to the design, in terms of strength and stability.
Project Duration
The project started in September 2019 and finished by the end of january 2020 in Antwerp.
Operation Flow
Osker is a low armchair that is designed as a seat. You can use the chair like any other chair.
Inspiration
The inspiration for Osker originated from a preference for Scandinavian seating furniture. For this armchair I started with the idea of designing a low armchair that was fully upholstered. However after repeatedly presenting the design in my head and on the drawing board, I realized that this chair deserved to be undressed. As a result Osker was created using vissible structures in combination with separate leather seat cushions.
