Nature, Eco-friendly, Traditional, Conventional, Innovation
We used local bamboo for our interior decoration and accessories, and also used a lot of rammed earth, clay plaster and gravel on the spot. The roof also used traditional clay fired green tiles and black bricks for our interior and exterior decoration.
The weather of the scenic spot was variable, much of the conditions were rainy day, so that in the early site survey and acquisition of data, it was very difficult for us to do the research. As the owner hopes to be able to complete the construction in a short time to open for business, and the situation was the design area covering nearly 5000 square meters of the building and interior space, which need more than one month to complete the design work, the work intensity was very high.
The project started in 1st January 2020 and finished in 10th February 2020 in scenic spot of Jintan Maoshan , Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, China.
Project site is not only located in the forest, but also on a piece of tea mountain. We had been involved in the design of packaging design where the local tea and local products are sold, which also provide tourists to participate in the tea leaves, tea production and packaging production experience, and these products with local characteristics displayed in certain space for visitors to understand and purchase. It is driven by the local native residents income, also allows the local tourism to a virtuous cycle, visitors can also participate in a series of non-material cultural arts and crafts during the holidays.
The materials of "rammed earth" and "clay plaster" used in the design, as well as the thermal insulation and insulation of the building roof and other decorative technologies, giving us a chance to get in touch with the old craftsmen who are good at these skills, and we also have more understanding and learning about the application of traditional Chinese architecture and materials.
In the design of this project, we not only refined the local culture, history and other design elements to integrate them, but also implanted the "traceless" in the space atmosphere, which is a perfect fusion of traditional and innovative design.
