Natural log and natural stone are used as the construction materials, while the spatial design emphasizes on human-oriented demands and visual comfort, so as to decrease unnecessary material consumption during the design process in order to avoid the waste of resources. Pale-colored marble is utilized to go with the basic spatial tone, where a highlight is boldly placed into each space; for instance, the curved shape of the red chair in the living room becomes a part of the scenery itself.

Unique Properties

The house owner of this project is indulged in a simple style, a simple style capable of containing various types of sparks with unique tiny details. Since the living room is blessed with the advantageous natural lighting, the partition-free design allows the natural light to be guided indoor, while grey mirrors on the wall further guide the light.

Production Technology

To solve the large French window and the natural environmental factor such as exposure to the sun in the afternoon, the window has adopted solid wood shutter blades with adjustable angles according to the sun-exposure conditions, which is capable of blocking off high-temperature in summer while maintaining sufficient sunlight indoor, this reduces the electricity consumption of the air-conditioner and the usage of artificial light sources during the day, thereby decreasing the waste of energy.

Design Challenge

The designer has set the indoor layout according to the needs from the family members since the semi-prototype house phase, where the living room, the reading area and the dining room adopted open-style to connect the three regions, while the kitchen dimension is enlarged with an arrangement of a central island.

Project Duration

The project finished in 2018 in Taichung, Taiwan.

Operation Flow

Research

The blue bedside table and the yellow chair in the master bedroom transform the residence into an art gallery, while the light fixture and paintings on the walls also become pieces of artwork, offering a quality of taste while adding spatial layers, thereby demonstrating well-executed, cultural and modern simplified sentiment.

Inspiration

Pale-colored marble is utilized to go with the basic spatial tone, where a highlight is boldly placed into each space; for instance, the curved shape of the red chair in the living room becomes a part of the scenery itself.
