Spirits and Alcohol for The Green Tree Distillery
Rum Heffron was created in 2020 on the occasion of the centenary of the return of Czechoslovak legionaries to their homeland, Czechoslovakia. The legionaries fought in Russia in 1914-1918 against the Russian Bolsheviks. Heffron is the name of one of the ships on which the legionnaires sailed from Vladivostok via Panama back to Europe. Therefore, the rum is of Panamanian origin and its design is inspired by letters sent by legionaries from their travels around the world home. Rum Heffron became one of the flagships of the manufacturer the Green Tree Distillery.

Rum Heffron was created in honor to the Czechoslovak legions. They fought against the Bolsheviks in Russia in 1914-1918 and made a significant contribution to the establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic after the end of World War I. The rum was launched on the Czech market on the occasion of the centenary of Czechoslowak legionnairs return home after a long journey around the world (from Russia via Panama back to Europe).

Transparent glass bottle. Label from textured creamy paper with letter stamp perforation die cut and local glossy varnish. Printed by three Pantone colors.
The challenge was to interpret the Czechoslovak legions values in an authentic way, engagingly and with dignity on the rum brand.
This project started in July 2018 and was finished in August 2019 in Prague, Czechia.
It is simple spirit bottle – there's no special function to it. The short legionnaires story on the label might be considered as educative.
I learned more about the historic context of my country and life destinies of soldiers fighting in the First and mainly also in the Second World War.
The long journey home (from Russia, via Panama to Europe) and the letters the legionnaires were sending home, are the inspiration for the concept. The name Heffron is the name of the last ship that carried legionnaires from Russia to Europe.
Photos of the bottles were made in studio Cotashon.
