Photography for SATORU NAKAHARA
He designed a "Dignity" by photography. Those objects are pine and plum trees that have seen everywhere in Japan and lived for over 100 years. Those have been expressed in "Sumi-e" and ink painting, folding screen painting from ancient times. After he took photos, he adjusted exposure and configured those in the white square. From his works, the viewer can imagine the background and feel the existence as "Dignity". Therefore it can be said that his design attempt is to eliminate boundaries of Painting and Photography.

This project is to design a "Dignity" by photography. The subjects are trees that are trying to live and survive everywhere unnoticed by anyone in the city now. They have not said anything and made their appearance for a long time. So this project tried to design by photography for expressing these natural appearance in the white square framework as the most beautiful composition.
Photography, Nature Photo, Black and white, Pine tree, Japanese Nature
These photographs were taken by Nikon's digital camera. These were considered the most beautiful position and form inside the square framework. And in the home studio, these photos have changed the exposure by using photoshop to be shaped more lively and most beautiful appearance.
The most difficult is to find objects in the city and to compose the best position to get the empty white background. To delete eliminate waste and discomfort, its appearance stands out more. This makes it possible to express of photography the abstract concepts of "Yugen" and "looseness" in traditional Japanese art culture. This is challenging for new design's possibilities to fuse with Art and photography, the Western and Eastern concept.
This project started in May 2020 in Numazu, Japan, and finished in February 2021.
This project by photography was being able to create a beautiful appearance from the trees that usually and casually were seen. In these photos to create a more beautiful appearance, it selected the black and white photography and square framework.
This project has the background of ink paintings and "Sumi-e," folding screen painting. That objects are natural things that show the beauty in the four seasons, such as pine, bamboo, plum, flowers in the mountains and river. This project tried to express these forms by black and white photography as the most beautiful appearance in the square.
This project's idea came up suddenly at one time in the city. It is the moment when appears the beautiful appearance in the trees and plants. These were the existence casually that seen everywhere but have not been noticed. It is meaningful for design to clarify the beautiful appearance of life that has been created over a long period. In addition that this project concept is from ink paintings and "Sumi-e," folding screen painting in Japanese and Chinese art and culture.
