Lamp for Oluce
Design should be understandable, sensitive and necessary. It's terrific how a road sign is readable by everyone or how an object recalls of a particular period of people life. Solving and interpreting without leaving behind respect for environment: this is good design with hope to reconnect human beings to nature. Siro is a table lamp, composed by a hemisphere and a disc, unleashing a radiant light toward the inside. When observed from the front, the lamp seems to consist of two bi-dimensional shapes, creating an illusion of perfect equilibrium.

Siro is a table lamp, composed by a hemisphere and a disc, unleashing a radiant light toward the inside. When observed from the front, the lamp seems to consist of two bi-dimensional shapes, creating an illusion of perfect equilibrium. Its singularity lies in the way Siro occupies space. The large diameter is contrasted by a minimal depth, made possible by advanced LED technology. The lamp comes in two different sizes with identical colors: bronze and brass.

Table lamp giving indirect led light in metal. Matt Black base, lens shaped reflector in painted satin bronze or satin gold glaze aluminium, painted in white inside. Components made by die casting.
The relationship between man, space and light was at the center of the research. The product had to respect the aesthetic and philosophical canons of the Oluce company and use materials and production technologies accessible to the company. The production did not encounter particular difficulties as the main parts that make up the lamp are three: front disc, semi-spherical cap and base. The latter was made by die casting.
The project started in September 2018 in Rome and finished in January 2019 in Milan, and was exhibited in Salone del Mobile in April 2019 and in Shanghai Exhibition Center in September 2019
The lamp respects the classic rules of interaction. The flow of light can be adjusted via dimmer. It does not emit direct light so it is an atmosphere light
A project inspired by a study on the circle and its evolution, movements and infinite declensions in space. As stated by Bruno Munari, the circle is Giotto, is the Sun and the Moon, is King Arthur’s Round Table, is the human eye, but also an ordinary object like a plate. The circle is mystery, is motion and stasis, is eternal flux In everyday life, the round shape symbolisesharmony, hospitality, and warmth.
Since our origins, mankind felt the primal need to research celestial mechanics and investigate the connections between cosmic phenomena and earthly episodes of mundane life. In the same way, a similar but intimate relationship exists in the domestic environment, between man, light, and space, resulting in inexplicable prosperity and peace of mind. Here comes Siro, as a tribute to Sirius, the brightest white dwarf star in the sky.
