Residential for YuYen Interior Design
The client's family has always lived by the sea. Given this, the designer especially adopts the arc-shaped and wave-shaped designs to continue the owner's emotions about the space. For the client, the curved design is like the fluctuating seawater, which symbolizes the mark of home. At the same time, the beams and columns in the space are harmoniously trimmed by the cutting of the circular elements, which finally creates a unique look of unity and family cohesion.

In the four-story space, the public area is an open-plan design, with the living room, dining room, and kitchen arranged on the same axis. With the spacious and smooth space planning, it not only sorts out a smoother traffic flow but also shows a visual extension effect, which can introduce transparent light irradiation and eliminate the original base's closeness. The gap between the wooden pillars and the cabinets is equipped with a light guide outlet to create a dynamic flow of natural light in the space, which not only preserves privacy appropriately but also creates a transparent and flexible space.
Mineral paints, Curved surface, Interior Design, Residential
First, the material of the space is mainly wood veneer, while the walls are covered with mineral paint and some marble. Secondly, dimming roller blinds are used to keep the clients privacy. Thirdly, the lighting of the space is customized with durable and environmentally friendly LED lights. The designer used eco-friendly recyclable system panels for the shoe cabinet in the entrance and the cabinet in the kitchen to reduce the redundant consumption of materials. In each space, the designer selected tiles, glass, carpets, plants, and ironwork to create a unique atmosphere.
This project is located near the sea, so there is usually a lot of sand. There are also dust and wood chips on the construction site. These small substances tend to adhere to the surface of the paint. Since mineral paints have capillary pores, if sea sand adheres to them, it will cause discoloration and roughness, which in turn affects the air permeability of the mineral paint. The solution was to keep the windows and doors closed during the painting process and wipe the surface with a damp cloth and sponge two to three days after the coating was completed to maintain the smooth surface and the breathability of the mineral paint.
The project finished in February 2021 in Taichung, Taiwan.
The first is the spatial structure, the designer has no clear demarcation of the interior space to maintain an integrated function. Natural light is introduced to make the visual aspect more bright. The second is in the application of materials, through the use of gray mineral paint, the hand brush and plaster are combined to create a pure, natural, unique, and bright space atmosphere. The third is the curved shape. Conical and column shapes are composed of purely curved shapes. The rounded shapes are used to decorate the corners so that the original columns of the building become stylized round columns.
The designer carefully evaluates the topography, climate, and environment of the site, and applies the design concept to each part through a smooth and flowing spatial planning, hoping to integrate the external natural environment with the internal living space together to create natural light and airflow. Lastly, the understated blend of gray tones brings a relaxing atmosphere of stress relief from the concept of color science, giving the client a sense of comfort and stability upon entering the space.
This project is located at the seaside with a vast ocean view. During pre-planning, the designer took the natural elements such as sea, wind and sand into account for evaluation. The aim was to create an environmentally-friendly and healthy environment that caters to the client’s daughter, who suffers from a respiratory condition. Natural light enters the interior harmoniously while various environmental factors are integrated to bring health benefits to the client’s family.
