Residential for SpringBlessed Interior Design
The emotional and heart-warming layers are created by various materials and the owner's collections. Aside from old and new elements of the house, the designer has also placed items that represent the owner’s emotional connections with other members in the space. In the family room slash observation point on the second floor, the client's son's art creation, The Heart of Universe, is set up as the room's core. In the painting, Godzilla gazed into the galaxy in a praying position, showing the peaceful connections in everything.

This renovated 40-year residence is located in the Feitsui Reservoir Protection Area of Xindian. The designer first evaluated and reinforced the structure, hoping to preserve and inherit the memories and stories of the building. Since the walls and floorings are historical, the outer wall is redecorated with white glazed tiles and the flooring with stone mosaic. A refreshing new style is developed for the residence.
sustain, emotional and heart-warming, old and new elements, emotional connections
Hoping to preserve and inherit the memories and stories of the building. Took advantage of the natural surroundings and achieved environmentally friendly by pulling the residence closer to nature. The light mirrors the trace of years of the residence while the marble floorings have eliminated divisions as if the ground is the reflection of a pond. The punch of the front door has slightly shown the views outside the house of glass; meanwhile, it has allowed the southwesterly flow to slip into the residence during summers, improving air circulation while achieving visual expansion.
To collect thoughts and suggestions of the ten household members, the designer handed out surveys to understand each unique interest, collecting hobbies comprehensively and expectations for their future living space. Hence, merging all requirements and dreams into the family tree as much as possible has turned into a challenging task for the designer.
The project finished in February 2021 in Taiwan.
The critical point of this project is to present and inherit the family legacy and philosophy through old and new materials. To collect thoughts and suggestions of the ten household members, the designer handed out surveys to understand each unique interest, collecting hobbies comprehensively and expectations for their future living space. Hence, merging all requirements and dreams into the family tree as much as possible has turned into a challenging task for the designer.
The designer adopted the concept of sustain. For example, reusing old materials (kaolinites of the fence are transformed into the floorings of the garage entrance), remodeling (collage marbles on the floorings are renovated), or selecting natural building materials to join and combine the overall (traditional stone-made fence merging with concrete columns and wall extensions). The open-end configuration has eliminated divisions and directions; by using the spiral staircase as the center, a free traffic flow is created. The client personal collection has also been placed in several corners.
This design is inspired by the natural sceneries of mountains and waters. The designer used the spiral staircase in the middle of the residence as an inspiration for a family tree and adapted the concept of co-existing from the ten-household family. Hence, the interior is equipped with several styles according to each family member characteristics and preferences, as if every individual area represents its personality and functionality like a family tree.
