Wine Packaging for Garalis Winery
The packaging of these two wines are connected with a common feature, the design style. Although the concept of the illustration is different in each case, the aesthetic is the same. The concept behind the packaging design of Muscat white wine comes from the distinctive features of Lemnos island with its low vines that are lashed by northeasterly gales. The design concept of Limnio red wine was based on the shape of the typical traditional Gouves of Lemnos. These were underground carved out rocks, used by vintners for the fermentation of must, and sealed with round slates.

Garalis winery produces two wines of exceptional quality and history. The ancient typical wine of the island of Lemnos Limnio and the Muscat of Alexandria. The packaging of these two wines are connected with a common feature, the design style. Although the concept of the illustration is different in each case, the aesthetic is the same. What we wanted to communicate is that these are two excellent products of the same family. The elements that make these two packages unique are two. The overall idea and style of the illustrations and the quality of the label materials.

The hardest part was the research on finding and visualizing the identity of the winery, the benefits of the products, the tradition and the characteristics of Lemnos island.
This project started in May 2020 and finished in December 2020.
Our goal was to make the packaging attractive and eye catching. For this reason we chose to use a minimal illustration style with a modern character. We also chose paper with a special texture, gold foil and gloss embossing effect for the letters.
The more unique a customer is, the more unique their product is. In any case, it is important to identify the specifics and characteristics of each customer and visualize them. This was done in this case as well. So after research we identified the elements of the character of the winery and its wines. The two basic elements affect the quality of the wines giving them a unique character are the special climatic conditions that prevail on the island and the traditional way of winemaking. In the case of Muscat wine we chose to illustrate the strong northeast wind blowing the low vine while for Limnio wine we chose to illustrate the shape of the traditional underground Gouves used for the fermentation of must.
The idea behind the packaging design of Muscat white wine comes from the distinctive features of Lemnos island with its low vines that are lashed by northeasterly gales. The colour gold was chosen for the grapes and the wind to emphasize their value and to stress the necessity of the combination of both. Subsequently, the design concept of Limnio red wine was based on the shape of the typical traditional Gouves of Lemnos. These were underground carved out rocks, used by vintners for the fermentation of must, and sealed with round slates. The colour gold was chosen here to highlight the value of the wine.
